The God of the second chance.

Let's look at truths that can be gleaned from this passage.

This chapter is a turning point in John's account - the opposition to Christ comes noticeably to the forefront. Let's see how it is manifested.

It is not surprising that Jesus refers to Himself as the Bread of Life or the Bread that has come down from Heaven because it is an appropriate analogy. In John 6 we also find the first of seven -I AM- statements made by Christ in John's Gospel.

Every miracle reveals something about the Lord and in this case in John 6, it is His faithfulness.

In this passage Jesus claimed to be God, have the power to raise the dead, and someday He would judge the lives of all men. The difference was Jesus was able to back all His statements up with miraculous works, a sinless life and resurrection from the dead.

Our world fantasizes about people with supernatural abilities because we recognize how weak, flawed and temporal we really are. We realize what we really need is someone with genuine omnipotence to confront our obvious impotence. Jesus did and continues to do so for needy individuals. But Jesus is not a caped crusader - He is God-

Many people would like to enjoy the benefits of walking with Christ, but they are afraid to commit their lives to Him. Today God wants you to commit yourself totally to Him.

By Jesus disclosing who He was to this unknown woman of Samaria, He demonstrated that the Gospel was for all, not just the Jews and that His ministry was to poor outcasts as well as the religious elites.

We observe in the Bible God's people struggling with transitions between Moses and Joshua- David and Solomon- Elijah and Elisha and in this text between John the Baptist and Jesus Christ.
