The Red Sox are 1 game out of the loss column for the 2nd Wild Card spot at 17-23.
If they had a set of balls or half a head on their shoulders instead of an algorithm face fucking there cerebral cortex or were simply just good at their job they could pull a couple simple moves and give this team enough energy and optomisim to make a weak play off push.
Designate Trevor Story for assignment yesterday . 33 years old.

Story currently ranks near the bottom of these lists in MLB, as shared by Tyler Milliken:
Story also happens to grade out as one of the worst defensive shortstops in the entire sport, currently sporting more errors (five) than anyone at his position aside from notorious butchers Otto Lopez (seven), CJ Abrams (seven), Willy Adames (six), and Zach Neto (six). The Red Sox, who grade out as the best defensive team in baseball, don’t have anyone else with more than three.
If you’re one of the people who wants to argue that the team needs veteran leadership, I urge you to take a look back at his very public response to the firing of Alex Cora and the way he previously took a back seat to the likes of Alex Bregman, Xander Bogaerts and Rob Refsnyder in recent years.
Jarren Duran 29 years old- .3 WAR - .194 BA – 4 HR – 18 RBI - .577 OBS - .324 slg
Lied about the fan in Minnesota. Another guy butt hurt about Cora. Admit you missed the window to trade him for a real return because you got greedy about the contract. Dump him for prospects
Brayan Bello 27 years old - -1.1 WAR, 2-4, 7.44 ERA, 32.2 Innings, 24 SO 16 BB
Still has some “stuff”. Teams get horny for pitchers. He’11 100% perform better in a smaller market that knows how to develop pitchers. Move him for prospects.
These vets are not contributing to winning. In all likelihood they are bringing the clubhouse down. Step backwards again. It’s the only path forward. This is the bed they have to lie in, because of their fiscal philosophy, development philosophy, and incompetent management.
