  • Saint Series: The Doctor of Grace

St. Augustine is our topic this month as we continue our Saint Series.

St. Augustine is a wonderful witness to our Catholic Faith and, along with all the saints, a great sign of hope. Let's ask for this saint's intercession.

Our intention this month is hope. Please pray with us.

St. Augustine, Doctor of Grace, pray for us!

  • Saint Series: The People's Pope

    Welcome to episode 12!

We are beginning what we're calling a "Saint Series" for the next couple of months, where we will pick a saint and share their dope quotes. This month, we chat about a redonkulous (in a good way) pope: John Paul II. We will celebrate his feast just a few short days after the release of this episode, October 22nd!

Our prayer intention this month is for young people. Pope St. John Paul II, pray for us!

  • The Cross: Suffering & Hope

This month we talk about the cross, using saint (and others) quotes as the basis for conversation. We discuss the two-fold nature of the cross: the suffering it brings and the hope that comes from the resurrection.

Please join us in praying for increased Marian devotion and growing our own devotion to Mary. Allow her to stand by the crosses of your life and wrap you in her motherly arms.

  • Our Name, History, and Devotions

It's been a year since the birth of the Red Sunflowers podcast. Although our first episode wasn't released until a few months later, July of 2020 was when things started to take shape for this podcast. We discuss a bit about the history of our podcast, including the reasoning behind the name. July is traditionally dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus, so we also spend some time sharing about this devotion and other devotions we have.

Our intention this month is for good, wholesome, and rejuvenating recreation. Have a great summer.

Here's the poem, "Come over to me" by Fr. Thomas Dominic Rover, O.P.

Come over to me, all you who are restless, and I will teach you how to be quiet, how to leave yourself alone.
Come over to me, all you who are anxious, even if I don't take your anxiety away, I will change it into fresh currency,
    as you turn your cares
into greater belief in my caring.

Come over to me, all you who are lonely,

    I was lonely too,
    and could find no place
    to lay my head.

Come over to me, all you who worry

what others really think about you.
    It doesn't matter.
They misunderstood me, no matter what I did.

Come over to me, all you who are always

talking and pleading and explaining yourselves to others.
I know you inside out. I know the worst.
So you can come to me without any explanations.

Come over to me, all you whose great plans for yourself have failed.

You don't know how lucky you are.
    And others too.

Come over to me, all you who can't stand yourselves.

    I touched lepers,
and once I called a man out of a tomb
who had been stinking there for four days.
    So come over to me–
I can stand just about anything.

Come over to me, all you who can't stand other people.

I know what is behind their misery.
I know the worst in them
as I know it in you.
    And I embrace you both.

Come over to me, all you who fret about the past.

I was there, I was part of your past,
and I have forgotten all about it.
So be like me and forget it too.

Come over to me, all you who can't live peacefully in the present.

Come to me now, without reserve.
That is the way to live peacefully in the present.

Come over to me, all you who fear the future.

Do not fear. I am your future.

  • Sharing Joy with the Bozo & the Dodo

Today we are keeping things light and silly. We simply want to laugh, have some fun and share that with you. No deep spiritual truths being revealed or discussed today. Well, maybe except that the joy of Christ is meant to be shared 😊

Our intention for the month is for the joy of the Risen Lord to dwell in all hearts. Please pray with us.

  • St. Joseph: Model of Manhood and Faith

Greetings, lovely folks and happy solemnity of Saint Joseph! In today’s episode we take a look at the readings for today’s solemnity and share our musings over them. (After talking about cereal for a little too long…) We also share about our personal affection for Saint Joseph and how he is a man of incredible and deep faith, as well as a model of authentic masculinity.

Our prayer intention this month is for authentic masculinity (which Saint Joseph would be a great intercessor for 😉). Let's ask the Lord for an increase in all the virtues that encompass authentic masculinity.

    Saint Joseph, pray for us!

Thanks for joining us and we hope you enjoy!

  • Mission & Middle-earth

On this episode, we dive head first into a land Grace thrives in: Middle-earth nerdom. 🌋 🧝🏻‍♀️ Through the lens of Frodo, we chat about mission and purpose.

    Some highlights:

    1. God has entrusted each of us to something specific and unique to us.
    2. He gave us one another because we He knows we can't go it alone (and weren't meant to).
    3. Through all of it, He gives us His grace to sustain us. After all, it's really His mission that He's allowing us to carry out. So rest assured that He will provide whatever graces you need.

May you carry out the beautiful mission He has intended for you for the good of the world.

This month, we invite you to pray for an increase in recognition of mission & purpose, particularly for those who do not realize they have a purpose.
