  • Holly Stephey and LA Lady Xany Rudoff
Xany Rudoff is a Los Angeles-based artist who works primarily as a painter, but has dabbled in acting, interior design and wardrobe styling. Born in Pasadena to an artist mother and art historian father, Rudoff moved with her family to the desert expanse of Apple Valley, CA, a site that would be crucial for her artistic development. In the wide, empty nothingness of the desert landscape, there were no limitations to Rudoff’s imagining, and upon returning to Los Angeles proper to get her B.A. in fine arts at the University of California, Los Angeles, she was able to see the city and the art world from the outside. Rudoff has previously participated in and organized group and benefit shows of her art and will be showing her most recent work, the Icon Series — which transforms vintage record albums and rock icons with the techniques used in Renaissance icon paintings — in a solo show this summer. She has been featured in the New York Times Magazine, Los Angeles magazine and Vanity Fair. Xany Rudoff's most notable collectors include: Benicio Del Toro, Pink, Alan McGee (Creation Records co-founder)

  • Holly Stephey and Photo extraordinaire James Fortune
James Fortune was in the right Place at the right time.
James Has over 100 Photos in the permanent  collection at The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame .   His first Rock n Roll Photo assignment was to shoot The Doors and then it went on to him being Hand Picked to do Photos with some of the top Rock Icons in History. We will talk about his Session with the Doors as well as him being asked to do Family portraits for Sir Paul McCartney and his Legendary Photos of  Led Zeppelin the Stones and many more. Back in the 1970s, in the aftermath of political, civil, and sexual revolution all over the world, photographer James Fortune plied his trade in the backstages and VIP sections of some of the nation’s biggest music events.   Beginning in his college days in the late ’60s, Fortune spent more than a decade photographing rock’n'roll icons such as Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Jim Morrison, Elton John and countless others. His catalog of over 15,000 images from the tumultuous ’60s and ’70s contains shots of everything from hippie riots in Hollywood to Gene Simmons and Cher sharing an e’clair.   He ran with the high-and-mighty and photographed them all, including Jimmy Carter, the Bee Gees, Led Zeppelin and Gerald Ford. His work even spanned the Pacific to Viet Nam, where the intrepid photographer served active duty from 1968 to 1970 with the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet Combat Camera Group.   The bedroom walls of America’s youth in the ’70s and early ’80s were plastered with his rock star posters. Now, for the first time, his limited edition prints from his original negatives are now available through jamesfortunephotography.com. And  at Samantha  Lewin Gallery in NYC Call for Appointment.

  • Holly Stephey Talks to The Dance Hall Pimps Rock n Roll fun!
Created in February 2009 by blues singer/songwriter RJC and guitarist Jeff Jourard (formerly of The Motels), the Dance Hall Pimps is a genre-bending show band playing original music that ranges from rootsy garage rock with a haunted swamp vibe to New Orleans-inspired rags and romps to a bluesy, neo soul genre we like to call Gothspel.
Our inspirations include The Kinks, The Cramps, Electric Flag, and the unseen dark side of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The killer horn section of “Brother” Bruce Mann and Steve Carr is inspired by the screaming sax in X-Ray Spex and the jumpin’ horns of the Louis Jordan Orchestra. Mann also plays organ, drawing inspiration from Alan Price and Baby Face Willette, but delivering a distinct Bruce Mann style that is both melodic and percussive.

Meet The Pimps RJC – vocals/banjo/guitar Jeff Jourard – lead guitar Bruce Mann – keyboard/trumpet Steve Carr – saxophone/clarinet/flute Vic “Baron” Migenes – drums Eddie Fish – bass/vocals
