A German movie that is a fictionalised account of a mining disaster in the Post World War One world on the new French/German border. It documents how working people of the time lived and worked, and how they responded to others in need.

Poet, writer and activist Benjamin Zephaniah talks to Krishnan Guru-Murthy about the Windrush scandal, how the political system should be torn down and why he spends so much time in China.

The plot involves a group of young people who run an uncensored public-access television cable TV. They are ejected from their show when the station is purchased by a televangelist, who considers their show pornographic. In response, the performers hijack the station and begin broadcasting a 24-hour all nude show in order to gain sympathy for their cause.

Melvyn Bragg and guests discuss the Russian prince who became a leading anarchist and famous scientist. Kropotkin (1842 - 1921) was born into privilege, very much in the highest circle of Russian society as a pageboy for the Tsar, before he became a republican in childhood and dropped the title 'Prince'. While working in Siberia, he started reading about anarchism and that radicalised him further, as did his observations of Siberian villagers supporting each other without (or despite) a role for the State. He made a name for himself as a geographer but soon his politics landed him in jail in St Petersburg, from which he escaped to exile in England where he was fêted, with growing fame leading to lecture tours in the USA. His time in Siberia also inspired his ideas on the importance of mutual aid in evolution, a counter to the dominant idea from Darwin and Huxley that life was a gladiatorial combat in which only the fittest survived. Kropotkin became such a towering figure in public life that, returning to Russia, he was able to challenge Lenin without reprisal, and Lenin in turn permitted his enormous public funeral there, attended by 20,000 mourners.

Francisco was hidden there for months, before spending two years in prison and later embarking on the path of exile on foot to France, from where he would not return in his lifetime.

Here we hear the voice of Francisco Haro Reyes himself, recorded in France by his nephew Manuel Velasco Haro, to whom the images belong.

The event concluded at the mouth of the cave that served as refuge for Francisco. His widow was in charge of throwing his ashes, along with a piece of bread and a bottle of oil, food that his mother brought him during the time he was hidden there.

In the words of his nephew Manuel Velasco Haro, “this is probably one of the first acts of historical memory and reparation that have been carried out in Andalusia.”

The Youth International Party, whose members were commonly called Yippies, was a radically youth-oriented and countercultural revolutionary group opposed to war and the status quo of American culture. Known for using theatrics and humor to advocate social change, several Yippies were notably on trial as the Chicago 7. Primarily consisting of footage from the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago which sparked massive demonstrations that were met by violence and hysteria caused by the police. This film also includes found newsreel footage as well as Pigasus - the pig the Yippies advanced as a candidate for President of the United States.
