We come to what might be Paul's most famous chapter of writing out of all of his letters: Romans 8. Time to tackle the big questions like, "what is 'glory'? Who are 'the elect' and what's up with 'predestination'?" All that and more in this episode of epic gospel proportions. Thanks for being with us!
We continue our conversation in Romans, picking up in chapter 5, but discussing mostly the questions of evil and sin, and how Paul uses these three chapters to dig deep into questions surrounding this mystery. Thanks for listening!
This conversation keeps getting better as we take a stroll through Paul's incredibly prolific letter to the Romans. Who does Paul think Jesus is? He thinks He has a little something to do with the Exodus and Abraham, and if you don't have a Jewish background, you might miss out on that immediate understanding, but don't let that bring you down! Thanks for getting into this epic letter with us, it's been a fun conversation so far!
Today we begin what will likely be a deep dive into Paul's most popular letter, Romans. We thought we'd be getting through the first four chapters, but in the end, only really the first and some of the second chapters. This is going to be a really fun conversation and I hope you enjoy it alongside us. Also, sorry for the audio discrepancies, I think we've finally isolated the problem and can bring you a better sound next week! Let's do it!
We get back on track with Paul's letters asking the question "who does Paul think Jesus is?" and how is his concept of Jesus developing over the course of his letters. So we're exploring them by the date in which historians believe them to be written, from earliest in his life to latest. This week we're on Philippians, a straight-forward letter full of one liners about Jesus' identity as Paul considers Him. Thanks for checking it out, and we can't wait to hear back from you on this episode!
We finish up our conversation on Theophanies, aka, "God moments" where He appears to people and gives them His word. So did those stop at some point? Why did He do them for a time and does He continue to do them today? What does Jesus mean for Theophanies? These are the questions we begin to explore in this episode, so thanks for listening and I hope you can interact with us more on this!
We're taking a detour from our journey through the letters of Paul to talk about the "God moments" of the Bible. What was going on when people heard or saw God? Did they actually or was it a metaphor? Is it a messenger or the actual creator God? Was it fully God or just part of Him? We'll begin talking about that topic this week and wrap up the conversation with the question "why does God operate in this way" next week in Part 2. As always, thanks so much for listening, we're so humbled that you do and hope you'll partner with us in this somehow!
On to one of the shortest letters in the New Testament, this curious case called Philemon provokes more conversation that we had anticipated. Listen in on this limited-edit edition of Good Good Podcast where we attempt to be as minimal with our own editing as Paul is with the words he's given us to work with. Thanks for tuning in and as always, feel free to send us any questions or comments you may have!
We wrap up our discussion over 1 Corinthians, in light of the question "who is Jesus?" We begin in controversial territory and want to disclaim ahead of time that we are not making any theological assertions when discussing homosexuality as Paul portrays it here, we're merely reading and reflecting in a candid way. We also want to apologize ahead of time for the audio discrepancy that flips to HD part of the way in.
Who is Jesus? There's a lot to be said for that topic in 1 Corinthians so we broke our discussion into two sections. Jesus is a life-changer for Paul, and in this letter he breaks down exactly how that looks in 5 different categories that the Corinthians struggle with and, surprise surprise, they're still relevant issues today! Thanks for listening, let's do this!!
