There is a condition so common to humanity, Paul says it causes us to “groan together.” We all wait with eager longing for the promised hope, the expectation of what God was determined to do since the ancient of days: redeem those who believe. This hope should embolden us, not cause us to grow passive and weary, that Paul calls in other places perseverance.
