Hope is easy to overlook until it's the only thing you can hold on to.

In this sermon from the series, "The Comfort of the Gospel," Pete Nicholas explores Isaiah 44:24-45:8 and the question of where lasting hope can truly be found. In a culture that urges us to place our confidence in ourselves, this passage points instead to the God who sovereignly guides history and faithfully keeps His promises.

Through the surprising story of Cyrus, Isaiah foreshadows the even greater rescue that comes through Jesus Christ. When our own strength proves insufficient, the gospel offers an anchor that holds through uncertainty, suffering, and failure.

Fear rarely disappears just because someone tells us not to be afraid.

In this sermon from the series, "The Comfort of the Gospel," Pete Nicholas explores Isaiah 42:18-43:7 and God's repeated invitation to trust Him in the midst of real fear. Rather than dismissing our anxieties, this passage confronts the deeper realities of sin, judgment, and our need for redemption before revealing the hope found in God's faithful presence. Through Isaiah's promises and their fulfillment in Jesus Christ, we discover that God's answer to fear is not the absence of hardship, but the assurance that He is with us through it. Because Christ has entered our suffering and borne our judgment, we can face life's deepest uncertainties with confidence in the God who calls us by name.
