When Spirit-filled Christians pray with biblical vision - that God is all-powerful over history and salvation - we can't help but ask him for the boldness necessary to proclaim his gospel to sinners, and to labor with him as advances his kingdom.

Christians must have a regular practice of confessing their sins to God in repentance, relying solely on his transforming grace to cleanse us from sin, which was ultimately dealt with in Christ's atoning death.

All who have been saved by Christ have been set apart for His mission. Christians should therefore thank God for faithful partners in this mission and pray that they would excel still more.

The authenticity of the apostles' message, and reality of Christ's second coming should compel all Christians to lives of holiness.

John has written this entire letter so that we may know we have eternal life. As Christians, we know Jesus brought us into fellowship with God and will protect us from the evil one, so that we persevere in our faith.

Those who truly trust in Christ Jesus' work on the cross can know they have eternal life and enjoy great confidence in prayer.
