  • Saints in the Hands of a Saving God (Daniel 3:1-30)

God’s people were pressured by the Babylonians to worship and serve their God just like we are pressured everyday to reject God and serve the world and ourselves. The goal of this chapter is twofold: First to reassure us as we are pressured by the world, trials, and temptations that we have a God who is able to deliver us from these things. Second this chapter is meant to encourage us while living as exiles not to serve other gods, even if such refusal will lead to death. The gospel of Jesus Christ shines brightly in this chapter in that we serve a God who delivers us from the fires of Hell by entering into those flames for us. This is the hope we have now as we live the Christian life that our path to glory is through the suffering of the cross just like our savior.

  • The 4th Command (WSC Questions 57-62)

    Q. 57. Which is the fourth commandment?

The fourth commandment is: Remember the sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien/stranger within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, but he rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the seventh day and made it holy.[a]

    Q. 59. Which day of the seven has God appointed to be the weekly sabbath?

    Q. 60. How is the sabbath to be sanctified?

The sabbath /or Lord’s Day, which is given for man’s good and as a pointer to his eternal destiny,[a]/ is to be kept holy by resting all that day from our work and recreations,[b] and spending the whole time in the public and private worship,[c] except the time spent in works of necessity and mercy.[d]

    [a]. Mark 2:27;   Heb 4:4-5, 9-11

    [b]. Exo 20:10;   Neh 13:15-22;   Isa 58:13-14
    [c]. Exo 20:8;   Lev 23:3;   Luk 4:16;   Acts 20:7

    Q. 61. What is forbidden in the fourth commandment?

The fourth commandment forbids the omission or careless performance of the duties required, and the misuse of the day by idleness, sinful acts, or unnecessary thoughts, words or works about our worldly affairs and recreations.[a]

    [a]. Neh 13:15-22;   Isa 58:13-14;   Amos 8:4-6

    Q. 62. What are the reasons attached to the fourth commandment?

The reasons attached to the fourth commandment are God’s allowance of six days for worldly tasks,[a] his claim to special ownership of the seventh, his own example, and his blessing of the sabbath day.[b]

    [a]. Exo 20:9;   Exo 31:15;   Lev 23:3

  • Bad Dreams: Daniel 2:1-23

Which is better life without God or life with God? In this sermon based on Daniel 2 Pastor JT gives reasons why the world is an awful place run by awful gods. This world offers no hope, no encouragement, no grace, no forgiveness, and no mercy all of which the God of the Bible does. I pray this sermon is encouraging in a time when the world seems to be doing what God said it would - perishing.

  • Our Sovereign God: Daniel 1:1-21

The Bible speaks of God's people as exiles, pilgrims, sojourners who have no true home on this earth. We live in the world (Babylon) but we belong to another country, a heavenly one. The book of Daniel explores the meaning of being an exile and how to live as a pilgrim in a pagan world. In this sermon we kick off the series by looking at the books major theme - God is Sovereign over history. I pray this sermon is an encouragement to you.

  • Our Hope in the Storm (Acts 17:16-27)

This sermon was written out of a deep concern for the modern church and the temptation to abandon the Bible and its message. As Pastor over our dear students who bombarded everyday with false messages, sin, lies, and false hope, I am always deeply concerned with wolves seeking to turn their heart from God. My desire is to know the grace of God towards them in the gospel and see them come to cherish there savior. This is the heart behind this sermon that I hope encouraged them to never leave the solid rock of God's word for the sand of this world.
