Mighty God | Week 02 Day 01

Today is a time to reflect, remember, and practice. Think back on the last few days of our time in this prayer guide. How has your understanding of Jesus as your Wonderful Counselor changed? Take a moment to thank God for this. What Scriptures have you read and/or prayed this week that have helped you the most? Finally, practice praying Scripture. Choose one of the Scriptures from this week’s guide, or another from your personal life and write it out as a prayer. Share this prayer with a loved one and pray it for them.

Read Psalm 139 and pray God’s words back to Him. • Focus your attention on the nearness of God in every moment, “You know when I sit down and when I rise up... You search out my path and my lying down...” • Even before you knew you existed, God was with you, “You formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” • How does God’s nearness with you and knowledge of you lead and provide coun- sel to you? “Search me... know my heart... try me... know my thoughts... lead me in the way everlasting.”

Day 2 includes a word study and in introduction to praying Scripture back to God. Because the book of Isaiah was written in Hebrew, we’ll be paying attention to the meaning of these words from their Hebrew uses. You are free to use this word study to whatever extent you desire. We suggest you read the translations and definitions, then meditate on the second messianic title of Isaiah 9:6 with these new meanings in mind. If you want and are able to, visit the cross references and make notes about the variety of uses, considering how these uses may contribute to a deeper understanding of Jesus’ character.
