Today we are taking a deep dive into what the cost of buying your first horse would be. I love horses and miss getting to ride. While I want one desperately, I know that I could not afford it right now. I was interested in finding out how much it would cost to buy a new horse as someone who has never had one!

What's the Cost? (WTC) is a series where I look into how much something would cost in the Ag/West industries. I am in no way trying to scare people away from making purchases but rather helping make sure you are informed about the costs. The agriculture industry can be hard to join as there always seems to be barriers for people who didn’t grow up in it. It can be a long time before you feel like you made it which can lead to doubts and burnout. Recently, I have been feeling so disconnected from agriculture. Even though I now work for an agriculture department, I don’t feel like I am doing enough in agriculture. I have reached the point of burnout where I am losing the interest and desire but we are going to get rid of those feelings. I want to share my current doubts and talk about how I am working on overcoming the barriers that create burnout for first generation agriculture.
