The Context of the Book of Beginnings

In the Beginning (vv. 1-2)

Why does the beginning matter to us today?

We must be salt in this world! (v. 13)

We must be light in this world! (vv. 14-16)

How can we grow and ensure we are being faithful salt and light?

The god of this age is the great deceiver.

The truth as laid down by God, as the foundation for all knowledge and life.

Satan has systematically attacked and sought to undermine God’s foundational work.

Jesus came to bring light, to reveal the lies and show us the truth.

There are many doubters of the truth (John 6:60-66)

But Jesus is the way of truth and salvation (John 6:67-69)

God has spoken through His Son.

Jesus is the heir of all things.

Jesus is the creator of the world.

Jesus is the radiance and representation of the triune God.

Jesus upholds the universe by the word of His power.

Jesus makes purification for sins.

Jesus is the Power Source, So Pursue Him! (vv. 1-7)

With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility (vv. 8-11)

Ever have someone ask, “What good are Old Testament laws?”

Tell them, “Christ has come.”

Tell them, “Now, the Old Testament laws don't RULE over me.”

Tell them, “But, the Old Testament laws still REVEAL God to me.”
