Redemption Bible Church, led by Pastor Jason Mayhall, finishes its current series "Unwrapping Christmas," examining the birth of Jesus Christ. We look at the Book of Matthew, where Joseph is told to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt, helping them flee a dangerous and difficult situation, driven by King Herod. As we look at our own lives we should ask whether God is asking us to flee something... perhaps our temptations or a hopeless situation? Much like Joseph we must have faith that we can escape, as God promises us all deliverance and hope. God is there to help us through the trouble, the heartache, and the difficult times. But we must be listening and looking for God's guidance, as Joseph was. We must be in a position to listen and be open to the removal of things in our lives that cause us to walk away from God.

Redemption Bible Church continues its latest series entitled "Unwrapping Christmas" examining the birth of Jesus Christ. This week we are led by Cameron Sapaugh, who describes King Herod's concerns about the birth of Christ, the travels of the Magi, and the religious scholars of the time. A key lesson is that, like the magi, we are invited to come and see Christ and worship Him. We should recognize that, at times, during the holidays things can be challenging as it is an emotional time of year. As we review these emotions, it is important to reflect and remember that Christ wants to carry our burdens, to be our good shepherd. As we reflect on our past and where we want to go we should look at how our heart aligns with God's heart. As we engage with people during the Christmas season, we should look for those who might be down or without hope as perhaps there's an opportunity to help them find Christ. Christ continues to love and support us and this is a gift we should look to share with those around us.

Pastor Jason Mayhall concludes the current sermon series entitled "A Long Obedience in the Same Direction," at Redemption Bible Church, by examining the end of Paul's letter to Timothy. In it we see Paul's loneliness and feelings of abandonment. But what also comes through is a need to persevere and a message that forgiveness is a mandatory characteristic of a Christian. Paul places his trust in the Lord, an example we can all look to when we feel alone, for at these times we know God is with us as He was with Paul. In Paul's final words, he encourages Timothy to visit him and to be a source of encouragement and strength. He encourages Timothy to place his trust in God knowing that He walks with us through hard times.

Pastor Jason Mayhall continues Redemption Bible Church's look at 2 Timothy, in a series entitled "A Long Obedience in the Same Direction." Paul continues his message to Timothy, encouraging him and all of us that, by reading God's Word, we will learn about who God is. We will begin to see how God's spirit will walk with us in every decision. We are always prone to think our ways are better, but we have to look at whether we are going to trust in His Word or our own. To believe is to allow God's Word into our heart and let His Spirit begin to adjust our lives.

Redemption Bible Church is examining 2 Timothy to learn about the Apostle Paul's last letter in a series entitled "A Long Obedience in the Same Direction." Pastor Jason Mayhall describes a bleak future of what society could become like if it fails to follow Jesus. Lovers of self is a good indicator of where the culture is in relation to God. They love pleasure more than they love God. This environment would pose dangerous challenges for Timothy and the church. Paul describes the evil nature of false teachers and urges Timothy to be different. He urges him to stand apart from the imposters by following his own example and teaching. God's word is the only reliable anchor to give us the ability to love and practice patience, self-control, and steadfastness in the face of hardship.

Redemption Bible Church continues its series examining 2 Timothy entitled "A Long Obedience in the Same Direction." Pastor Jason Mayhall teaches about Paul's warnings to Timothy, of those who can lead others astray with their words. Words have power, the power to allow God's truth to keep us on the right path. They can also lead to ungodliness, a belief in false prophets, and violence. We must remember to flee youthful passions, pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart (2 Timothy 20-22). This isn't just about avoiding sin but surrounding ourselves with others pursuing this goal with others who have the same belief and who will challenge us to keep a pure heart.

Pastor Jason Mayhall continues Redemption Bible Church's sermon series focused on the Book of 2 Timothy entitled "A Long Obedience in the Same Direction." In this section, Paul talks about how we need to rely on Christ to give us the strength that we need, we cannot do everything on our own. He then gives Timothy four examples he can follow as he looks at how best to serve Jesus. Paul encourages Timothy to think of himself as a teacher who can multiply the message, mentoring others in discipleship. Paul talks about the focus of a soldier and commitment to discipline of an athlete, that there are no shortcuts beyond giving of one's time, talent, and treasure. Finally he talks about the farmer, illustrating how the work of sharing God's grace is not always the most glorious or exciting work, it can be hard, but it leads to the fruit of salvation.

Redemption Bible Church continues its sermon series entitled "A Long Obedience in the Same Direction," led by Pastor Jason Mayhall. Because God has given His Spirit to every believer, Christians have the power to proclaim the Gospel without shame and fear. As Paul's life demonstrates, proclaiming Christ may lead to suffering. Christians should not be ashamed of Christ or run away from suffering, but we should remember God's grace. That grace was revealed through the coming and death of the Savior. He saved us, conquered death, and brought life. Paul preached this and was imprisoned for it. He encourages Timothy to follow his example. He shows the two possible paths: fear and fleeing (e.g. Phygelos and Hermogenes) or faith and suffering (e.g. Onesiphorous). He exhorts Timothy to follow the latter path by the power of the Spirit.

In what is likely the last letter he ever wrote, Paul makes known to Timothy, his friend and disciple, something that is very important for all of us to remember. The Christian life requires endurance, steadfastness, and a perseverance that can only be strengthened through God's word. The Lord calls us on a direction towards Him filled with joy and blessings, but one that also includes obedience in the midst of suffering and hard times.
