Listen in this week as Pastor Anthony walks us through the account of Elisha and the bears and how we, as a church, can understand the warnings and consequences of idolotry today.
This week we are blessed to have pastor Aaron who helps lead the Beloved Community preach for us. He does a great job showing how this fascinating story of the Lord God of angel armies, working in Elisha's time, very much connects to the gospel and points to Jesus and our calling as his people.
This week we announce a BIG change. Our church is shifting into a theological posture called mutualism, which means we will now include women at all levels of leadership and work in the church. The first 20 minutes of this podcast is that announcement. Go to https://redemptionflagstaff.com/mutualism to find out more.
Then we take some time to look at Elisha and a handul of interactions he has with people, which delve into the themes of God's compassion, faith, and resurrection. We see how those themes are not just in the Elisha story, but in the human story, and the Jesus story as well.
Today, Pastor Anthony shares with us the story of Elisha taking on both the blessing and responsibility of a prophet, and how we can learn from Elisha what it looks like to take on the calling of Jesus today.
This week we look at Elijah interacting with Ahab's son, Ahaziah. He continues to walk in his father's footsteps. After we look at that story, we take meandering theological journey examining God's mercy, judgment, and his covenants.
This week we look at a great injustice happen to a man named Naboth at the hands of Ahab and Jezebel. Then we examine this story by looking at three things; The Problem with Ahab, The Ahab in Us, and the Solution to Ahab.
Today we do an autoposy of Elijah's burn out. He just had a high moment in his career as a prophet, but it was met with vengeance. He becomes afraid. He runs to the wildernes and ask God to end it all. We spend time looking at what we can learn about God and about ourselves as we examine Elijah's burnout.
This week we look at what is possibly the most famous story in the book of Kings. Elijah's contest with the prophets of Baal. The main point he is trying to make to the people of God, is that it is time for them to stop limping between two gods. We ask ourselves if we do the same thing, and will we let his words speak to us today?
