Jesus pits the idol of money against allegiance to Yahweh. Serving money means to calculate and maximize all the benefits money can bring to my life. To serve God means to calculate and maximize all the benefits God can bring to my life.

Jesus calls us to listen to him through His words as well as through the spiritual discipline of fasting.

In the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples, we are invited to petition God to work His will in and through us. The Lord's Prayer shapes the very way we live our lives.
