When we look in the book of Acts we find a very alive Jesus. Jesus is active in every chapter of the book of Acts. Jesus heals, delivers, saves, speaks.. Jesus should be just as alive and active in our Churches today!

Jesus is the centerpiece of the 1st Century Church. Every sermon is about Him. He is the purpose. He is the reason for their passion. Everything in the word of God points to Jesus.  It is ALL AB OUT JESUS.

1st Century TITLE

Hello my name is Chris Fluitt. I serve as lead pastor here at Redemption Church. I want to invite all of our online listeners to come see us in person. We are a young exciting church in Plano Tx. Come meet us.

Welcome to week 1 of our new series.    We are so excited about this series.

Over over the next 6 weeks we are going to solidify the vision & Mission of Redemption Church. Along the way I want you to adopt your mission & vision that God has given you.

Please stick with this series as we share our heart, do some dreaming, and cast the vision that God has given us.

Let’s talk Mission vs Vision. Listen up because this is good information you can use in your life today. We throw out words like mission & vision without knowing their meaning.

1Mission = Purpose

All hospitals have a mission that is almost exact…  something like…

To bring health and healing to the community…

Same thing with schools…  To educate students and prepare them for the next stages in life.

All churches should have the same mission.  Jesus himself gave us a clear mission – the great commission! We will come back to this point later in this series.

 

Our Mission at Redemption Church   Say it with me.

2To declare the good news of Jesus and see others become followers of Christ.

This mission statement comes from 2 scriptures…

Mark 16:15 (NIV) …Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

We are to declare the good news of Jesus!

Matthew 28:19 (NIV) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…

The word disciple means ‘one who follows the teachings’  We are called to make disciples… that is to say… Followers of Christ.

 

This Mission is our Purpose.  Having a clear mission helps us make decisions around here.

* Should we help this lady who wants to share the gospel in Asia?

Does it fulfill our mission? Does it declare Jesus and lead others to follow?

* Should we spend a large amount of money of a laser light show so we have a cooler worship experience…

Does it fulfill our mission…  maybe not…  Our mission isn’t “to be a cool church.”  Don’t get me wrong… We aren’t setting out to be an uncool church or boring church…  We figure there is nothing more exciting than Knowing Jesus and making Him known…  We think a cool church preaches Jesus and sees people taking new steps in faith.

* Do we need to spend a few hundred dollars to upgrade our tech gear at Redemption?

Does that fulfill our mission?  Would it help us declare the good news?

* Should we hire someone to join our staff?

Is it the best way to help us accomplish our mission?

 

Not everything that comes our way should be our mission… 

Mission = Purpose.  Again our purpose is…

It is possible for your power needs to outweigh your power supply.

When we attempt to draw more power than a circuit can provide we will be left powerless. In life we need to be connected to a power source that can supply our power need. Power comes through connection.

Jesus is the only source of power that can supply all of your needs.

Jesus promised in Acts 1:8 that we would receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on us.  If this power is for us to receive, then we need to stop living powerless lives.

Power comes with the Holy Spirit connection. Power comes through connection. Are you connected?

Welcome to the year 2017.

Hello to all of our podcast listeners, Youtube subscribers, and whoever might be finding this sermon. My name is Chris Fluitt. I serve as lead Pastor here at Redemption Church in Plano Tx. It is an honor to minister the Word to you today.

1 Powerful Year

My prayer for you this year is that you would have a POWERFUL YEAR. A lot of us feel like we limped through 2016. We may feel like we barely survived in our relationships, our health, and our finances.

I am praying that your 2017 would be a year of power, strength, momentum, victory, encouragement, faith, miracles, and success. God wants to power your year. He wants to power every area of your life. DO YOU WANT THAT?

Acts 1:8 is our memory verse for the month of January.  Memorize this scripture.

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”(NIV)

2 We need Power

One of the worst things that can happen in your home is to lose power.

* No heat in the winter.

* No AC in the 8 month long Texas summer.

* No light in the night time hours.

* Worst of all… No Netflix.

We need power to function. We need power to succeed. When we have no power, nothing works. All the high dollar things you are so proud of don’t work without power.

Your 60 inch smart tv with the truest of black and the highest 4k resolution… is a broken picture frame without power.

Your iPhone 7s with its apple A10 fusion quad core processor and 3 GBs of ram, those strange little Bluetooth earbuds, and all those cool games and apps… it is a $700 paperweight without power.

Most of the things you own… the things your dream about owning, are worthless without power.

 

Your relationships need power. Your marriage. Your family. There is a need for power.

Your church needs power.

Your calling in God needs power.

We need to power up our finances, our careers, our education.

We are in need of power in every area of our life.

 

Acts 1:8 tells us that God will give us power.  If God has promised to give us power, then we need to stop living powerless lives.

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…NIV)

3 Power is yours to receive

If power is yours to recive, then we need to stop living powerless lives.

Acts 1:8 gives us a principle.

4 Power comes through connection

When you are connected to the Holy Spirit you will receive power.  Power comes through connection.

 

This makes sense in the physical.

* Your house is literally connected to power line cables. Without that connection there is no power.

* If you don’t connect your phone to the charger then it will not receive power.

The power comes through connection.

 

Do you understand why we worship? Do you understand why some around you are singing and raising their hands?  They are connecting.

Hope delivers himself up.

Magi came and worshipped the Christ Child. We don’t know much about the Magi. Scripture does not give us their number, names, mode of transportation, or countries of origin. The only specific we are given is that they gave 3 gifts in worship.  They gave Gold, Frankincense, & Myrrh.

These gifts go beyond the natural and prophecy who Jesus is. The gifts reveal that Hope delivers Himself up.

In worship, these gifts are opened to give to the Lord. In Communion, the Lord opens up gifts to us to receive.

Merry Christmas. Today is December 25th 2016.  Thank you for joining us in worship here at Redemption Church in Plano Tx.

My name is Chris Fluitt and I greet you in the name of our savior Jesus Christ.

Messiah has come!  Immanuel, God is with us!

We are in the 4th and final week of the Hope 4 the Holidays series.

* Week 1 – Hope shows up

And today, Week 4 – Hope delivers himself up

Let’s look one more time at our memory verse for December. Do you have it memorized?

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.(NIV)

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.(NIV)

 

Jesus, the Word, is the baby in a manger.

Who He is, why He came, and what He would do was a surprise to most. The mysterious magi, men from the east seemed to understand who, why, and what they were about to encounter.  These Magi came bringing gifts that show they understood.

Matthew 2:1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem(NIV)

It never says there were three wise men, it simply says Magi. It does say that three gifts were given, and tradition jumped to the conclusion that there were three wise men/magi. During the Middle Ages legend developed that they were kings, that they were three in number, and that their names were Casper, Balthazar, and Melchior. Probably not true.  A twelfth-century bishop of Cologne even claimed to have found their skulls. Bizarre claim.

They came from the east, which means “from the rising of the sun.” This could infer that they were from the orient, but there is no way of knowing.

There is so much we don’t know about them. We are not told their number, their names, their means of transportation, or the specific countries from which they came. That knowledge must not have been what made their part in the story important.

The story only gives one specific..

Matthew 2:11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.(NIV)

The one specific is the 3 gifts they brought in worship.

Today I want to you to pay close attention to these specific gifts. These gifts given to a baby are prophetic and point us to the cross.

Gold

The Magi brought a child gold.

Gold is a precious metal and as such was a very valuable commodity. Its value could very well have financed Joseph and Mary’s trip to Egypt, where they escaped Herod’s plan to slay the child.

Gold is symbolic of Kingship in scripture.  The gift of gold, was a gift fit for a king.

Also, Gold is a symbol of divinity/deity. The gift of gold to the Christ child was symbolic to His divine nature—God in flesh.

Hope Holds us Up.

When you see no hope in front of youthere is still a hope that you can grasp.  This is the story of the Apostle John and his Gospel account.

After all that John had been through, the loss, suffering the dark circumstance, he still pointed us to a hope. That Hope is found in John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word.  That hope came to earth in John 1:14 – The word became flesh.

In the darkest situation John pointed to Christ in a manger and declared “In Him was life.”

In every situation we can do the same.

Today is December 18th 2016. It is hard to believe this year is almost over. I know this time of the year is very busy. I thank you for taking time to worship with us today.  We have worshipped together. We are about to receive the word together. And before we leave today we will talk to God together.

My name is Chris Fluitt and I am the lead pastor here at Redemption Church. I am excited to be preaching the 3rd week of our Hope 4 the Holidays series.

Next Sunday is Christmas day (December 25th) and we will be meeting right here to worship at our normal time of 3pm. We will have a special time of communion and worship. Please come and bring your family and friends.

Today I want to tell you that H3 1Hope holds us up

When you see no hope in front of you, in your current situation, after all the loss you may be dealing, THERE IS A HOPE THAT WILL HOLD YOU UP.

Let’s look at our scripture memory verse for this month.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.(NIV)

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.(NIV)

 

The gospel of John is different from the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke.

H3 2Matthew, Mark, & Luke are Synoptic

If you have been around Church you have probably heard that term dropped into a sermon. Redemption Church is a church built for to welcome people who have not been around church and perhaps have never heard the term synoptic.

Matthew, Mark, & Luke are Synoptic Gospels because they include many of the same stories, often in a similar sequence and in similar wording.

When you read the gospels of Matthew, Mark, & Luke you notice the same stories and layout. Matthew & Luke both include a genealogy of Jesus. The three accounts have similar chronology in the order of sermons, parables, and miracles…

And then there is John.

John is just different.  He is no more or less inspired by the Spirit, but John is just different.

* The stories he focuses on are different.

* John focuses on Jesus’ early ministry in Galilee. The others don’t mention this time.

* John tells us about Jesus visiting Jerusalem before the Passion week. The other Gospels only mention Jesus traveling to Jerusalem in connection to the cross.

* Only John tells us about the raising of Lazarus from the dead.

* John spends an extended time telling of Jesus’ farewell to His disciples.

* John doesn’t spend time on the sermon on the mount or the Lord’s prayer.

* There are no parables in the book of John. (There are a growing number of scholars, who also find parables in the Gospel of John, such as the little stories of the 

The world is LOUD!

Evil is loud. Hatred is loud.

You don’t really need someone to tell you this, becuase loud things don’t need to be pointed out.

You don’t need me to tell you the world is a dangerous place.

* Terrorism is plenty loud enough. Murder and violence does not need to be pointed out.

You don’t need me to tell you that relationships are difficult and marriages are at risk of failure.

* This world’s back stabbing ways amongst friends is deafeningly loud.  I don’t need to read you statistics on divorce.

You don’t need me to tell you that you have a problem within you.

* Your fears are plenty loud. Your lack of peace is screaming. You have tried to do better only to fail, and maybe no one else sees it, but you definitely hear the gigantic THUD of your failed life change.

Loud things don’t need to be pointed out.

But there is something about Hope.  Hope is not loud. Hope speaks with a calm peaceful voice. Hope can easily be overlooked in the growing crescendo of a loud world. Hope needs to be pointed to us.

2000 years ago Hope spoke up when Christ was born. This hope still speaks today. This Christmas let’s point it out to this loud world.

We are to carry Hope within us. We should be a source of hope to the world around us.

 

Today I want to tell you that H2 1Hope Speaks Up

 

This world is loud. Evil is loud. Hatred is loud. Devastation, death, and destruction are loud.

What I mean by this is, when something is loud it doesn’t need to be pointed out.

For example, when my wife Sarah and I have the foolish idea of going to a nice family dinner at a restaurant, and our children become loud, no one has to yell “hey your kids are being loud and they have also set a curtain on fire.” No one has to tell us they are loud, because loud things are obvious. Instead people give you those sideways glances, that say “hey buddy you might want to do something about the wrestling match between your 3 boys.”

H2 2Loud things don’t need to be pointed out.

You don’t need me to tell you the world is a dangerous place.

Terrorism is plenty loud enough. Murder and violence does not need to be pointed out.

You don’t need me to tell you that relationships are difficult and marriages are at risk of failure.

This world, with all of its many problems, is very loud.

 

In the beginning God created a quite garden.

H2 3A Quiet Garden

It wasn’t loud in the Garden of Eden. It was a place of peace.  There were no reasons to scream. There were no bangs, crashes, and explosions.

We need Hope for the Holidays.

We need hope more than gifts, decorations, and holiday parties. Hope is often overlooked in December.

Hope is what this season is about. We need to remember when hope showed up.

Mary carried hope within her. This hope changed the world around her.

We too should carry hope within us. We too should be a source of hope for the world around us.

Welcome

I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for.

Would you agree that the Christmas season is in full swing?

I saw Christmas trees in department stores as early as late September, and now everywhere you look it is hard to forget that Christmas is coming.

I want to talk to you today about this upcoming season. There is something that we need to receive in this season that is so much more important than…

The world needs more than these things. I hope you will agree that H1 1this world needs HOPE.

You see how we are at each other’s throats on social media.

You see the violence in our streets… or worse the violence at the mall.

More people than ever take medication for depression.

Although we live in the richest nation many are hungry and doing without.

Many people are going to miss the point of this entire season and instead go into credit card debt to pay for gifts that most people don’t really need or want.

H1 1this world needs HOPE

Author Hal Lindsey said “Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air…but only for one second without hope.”

Let’s make this season a time when we remember that H1 2HOPE SHOWED UP.

Hope was born of a virgin.

Hope was born in a manger.

Hope was worshipped by shepherds and Magi.

Hope was incarnate. Everyone needs to know about the hope of the incarnation. God put on a bod and came to earth. The creator became the created and dwelt among us in love.

Hope has a name. It is Jesus! Hope showed up!

You can have a Christmas Tree and miss this.

You can sing carols and miss this.

You can buy gifts and decorate your house and still miss this.

Jesus is Hope Showing up!

H1 3Hope was inside Mary

Mary was a young girl who was engaged to a man named Joseph. Like most young girls awaiting their wedding day, Mary no doubt had dreams about the ceremony and the life that would follow. She probably had designs formulated on how she was going to run her house and raise her children. She probably thought of special ways to leave her mark on the world. Her life was filled with hope of the life to come.

It is great to be filled with hope for the future… but what happens when that pictured future is no longer the same.

All of Mary’s hopeful dreams changed when an Angel sent from God came to Mary.

Luke 1:27-38

to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.

But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.

You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.

Reboot the Relationship

Relationships are a valuable part of life. When relationships become weakened, damaged, or unhealthy sometimes they need to be rebooted.  By listening, forgiving, and spending time we can work to repair damaged relationships. It is necessary for us to maintain and strengthen the most important relationships in our lives, and there is no

relationship more vital than our relationship with God. But when our relationship with God becomes damaged can it be rebooted?

Welcome back to our REBOOT sermon series.

“Reboot” is a computer term, and as a computer engineer I am very familiar. I recently had to “reboot.”

*Shoe Story*

When you notice that you might be a problem , or you notice that something is going wrong you can ignore it and see if it gets worse, you can try to patch it up and keep going,

or you can start over and commit to fixing it. Sometimes that is the only way to solve the problem.

Sometimes we all need a reboot.

Usually we hear this type of message at the beginning of a new year, when everyone is thinking about New Year’s resolutions and making a new start. But if you’re aware of a problem, why wait to fix it?

You can start fixing the problem right now.

How silly would it be if my house was on fire, but “Fireman’s Day” was coming up in a few weeks…

So I’ll just wait until then to call 911.

That would be ridiculously stupid. But I did something similar. *Tire Story*

Don’t be like me. If you have a problem, or you know you need to make a change in some area of your life, don’t wait for New Years. Do it today. Reboot now.

Make a plan to get healthy. Make a budget. If you can make some progress by the start of 2017 then you will really have a Happy New Year.

So far in this series we have talked about rebooting our health. Pastor Chris told us about his efforts to get healthier and avoid the cake guy at his gym. And we have talked a little about rebooting our finances.

But today I want to talk about another area of our lives that sometimes needs to be rebooted:

RELATIONSHIPS

Show of hands, who here is in a relationship?  Everyone should have their hands up, because we are all in relationships other people in our lives. We might jump to thinking of girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, wife relationships, but you have a relationship with your parents, or your children, your friends, your coworkers, your Starbucks barista. Many of you have a relationship with me as a Pastor or a friend. Any time we interact with other people we start to establish a relationship, and we participate in many different relationships throughout our life. Some are short, some last a long time, but we should want any relationship to be as healthy as possible.

Relationships are formed between people, and people change over time. So it is only natural that our relationships with others can change over time. The way a 5 year old relates to their parents is very different from the way a 30 year old relates to their parents.

There are currently 11 “relationship statuses” available on Facebook. Relationships can be healthy and positive, or they can be unhealthy and dysfunctional. Sometimes our relationships with others can become damaged.

This month we came through a very contentious presidential election, and just this week many families gathered together for Thanksgiving. I’m willing to bet that many people are experiencing damaged relationships. Hopefully none of you,

You desire a total transformation in atleast one area of life.

We dream of the redecorated house, the completed college degree, or the fit and trim body. We want a total transformation, but it takes more than saying we want it.

A total transformation requires change in every area of your life.  A total transformation is not a small change here or there. Transformation is RADICAL!

To be transformed:

* We must reject our current conformity.

* We must get rid of our excuses.

Are you ready to walk into the transformation you have dreamed about?

Are you prepared for the transformation that comes through Jesus?

Welcome back to the 3rd week of the Reboot series at Redemption Church. My name is Chris Fluitt and I welcome you. Redemption is a nondenominational Church in Plano Texas. Hello to all you listening or watching on the internet. We would love to meet you in person someday.

R1 1Reboot

In week 1 we talked about the System Errors that happen in our life.  We talked about the trajectory of our life and how it shows us our future. If we don’t bring a corrective change into our life then we will continue down the path of our trajectory.

Last week we talked about Plans, Progress, Process, and Perseverance. You need a plan that brings progress. We warned you to not despise the process and we committed to be a church that does not judge people in process. We are all in process and if we persevere we will see success.

Speaking of not judging… Do you remember the story about the guy who is always at the gym but his body does not look like he is always at the gym?  Well this week… no lie…. I saw him walk into the gym carrying to cakes… I wanted to take a picture but I couldn’t find a way to take one without being obvious.

We need to see meaningful change in our lives. Amen?

Today I want to talk to you about a R3 1Total transformation.

Chances are good that there is an area of your life that you desire a total transformation.

Relationship transformations might have crossed your mind. Maybe there is a relationship that needs emergency rescue.

Perhaps your spiritual life is what you thought of.  Hopefully there is the drive in you to serve God at a higher level.

I will share with you my journey. Last December.. 11 months ago.. I stood on a weight scale and saw I was heavier than I had ever been. It was not a pretty moment but it was a moment I could not ignore.

We had just had family pictures made.. I couldn’t stand the family pictures because I looked so out of shape. I avoided mirrors and tried not to think about the subject.

I had never planned on being this overweight. I felt like my health was deteriorating as my joints and back hurt. I saw where I was, I recognized that the trajectory of my life was headed in a negative direction. I needed some corrective change.

Sarah also felt the need for change and has done so good.

You need a plan. A better life does not happen by accident. You need a plan. You need a plan that brings progress.

Do you have a plan? Is it working?

Do you despise the process? In a world that only appreciates a finished product, a life in process is often undervalued.

Can we stop judging each other over being in process? Truth told, we are all in process and will only find our finished selves when we see Jesus face to face. (1 John 3:2)

If we will persevere in a good plan we will one day receive the life we desire. (Galatians6:7-9)

Before we dive into the word today we need to take time to realize that our nation went through a reboot this past week. There was of course a Presidential election, and don’t forget about the Senate & Congress and numerous state & city level elections.

There is a lot of unrest. Both presidential nominees had a historically high disapproval rating. So after this long drawn out negative campaign cycle many are left with a feeling of uncertainty, anger, or fear.

What should the Church of Jesus Christ do?  We should pray.

We pray for our leaders.  Even if we do not agree with their policies – We pray for them.  It is unbiblical to only pray for the officials you voted for… Christians should pray for all government leaders.  Our prayer should not be partisan.

Even leaders you don’t like… Even leaders you fear are corrupt… Even leaders who you think are jerks… Even leaders who fail and have flawed policy…  I remind you that the Bible commands us to pray not just for our friends but for our enemies as well. This is not a suggestion, but a command.

So I want you to join me in praying for President elect Trump and the rest of our current and coming government. We are going to pray for their hearts and minds.  We are going to pray that God would lead them. We are going to pray that God would convict them of sin and lead them to live in righteousness. We are going to pray that America would be a Godly nation and that God would receive honor in our nation.

Let’s also pray that the Church of Jesus Christ would make a difference in this world. That we would be a light to the world. That we would be about the Father’s business and not caught up in political games.

I invite you to continue to pray for our national leaders daily.

 

Last week we talked about the System Errors that happen in our life.  We talked about the trajectory of our life and how it shows us our future. If we don’t bring a corrective change into our life then we will continue down the path of our trajectory.

Today I want to talk to you about your plan.

Do you have a plan?  Your life needs a plan.  When you are looking to reboot your life you need to have a plan in place.  There are areas of your life you want to restart, but do you have a plan.

We often have a spoken plan but we live a different default.

Example:

One day I plan to own a house (spoken plan) but I have never even started to save for a down payment (a different default).

I plan to be in great shape or crazy wealthy and successful (spoken plan) but I don’t work out because all I do is binge watch Netflix… and I am in d...

You have had technology problems before right? What is the number one thing said by tech support? “Have you tried turning it off and back on again?”

A reboot of the system often corrects communication problems that arise between the System and the Hardware. The all important operating system must be working correctly or else we are going to have severe tech problems.

When it comes to being human, we too have an operating system. We have a moral code and consciousness. We have a system inside us that was created by God. We have a heart, a mind, a soul… and it is only a matter of time before we experience our own system error.

In the Garden of Eden mankind experienced a system error called sin. Like a broken piece of technology our world started to not work properly. Things like death, divorce, hatred, murder, greed, stealing, and lying started to pop up like an adware computer virus… These are things that were never in our original manufacturer settings, but now sin is within us all.

It is far more than a few system errors. Our system is down and seemingly beyond repair.

“Have you tried turning it off and back on again?” Are you ready to try something new? Do you want a reboot?

Raise your hand if you have had technology problems.

Everyone in the room raised their hands.  I am sure you watching or listening online could raise your hand as well.

Technology has become a huge part of our life. Our refrigerators have a wifi internet connection now, with web cams built inside so you can look inside your fridge from the grocery store.  Our phones have become super computers with every kind of app built into them.  You can stream just about anything these days… The international space station has a streaming webcam! (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/iss-hdev-payload) How did they get the wires to reach?

As we grow more reliant on technology the more stress comes to us when our tech is not working.

One of the things I google the most is “tech support.”  “How do you fix… What is the support number for…?”

 

When things go wrong with our tech systems what is the first thing we are told to do? This suggestion has become a running joke in help desk circles… “Have you tried turning it off and back on again?”

Mistakes happen in the area where the operating system and the hardware meet and often a reboot will correct the communication of your tech. It is only a matter of time before an error occurs and the restarting of the system often takes care of the errors.

 

When it comes to us, we too have operating systems.  We have a moral code and consciousness. We have a system inside us that was created by God. We have a heart, a mind, a soul… and it is only a matter of time before we experience a system error.

We have errors when we do not live according to our operating system.

Way back in the garden of Eden there was a System Error

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned–(NIV)

When sin entered in to the heart, mind, and soul it brought death.  Sin is like like the blue screen of death… or the red ring of death for xbox users.. Things were not working like they were supposed to work. In fact it looked like they would never work again.

Mankind was not supposed to die. This was NOT how the system was intended to operate. But now through sin all die.
