James wraps up his letter to the church by charging them to pray in faith; in times of suffering, pray. In times of celebration, praise. In times of sickness, pray. What we see is this deeply intemement relationship between our faith and our prayers. That just as James has touched on repeatedly throughout this letter, everything falls under the umbrella of faith; faith that doesn't stand still, but works. (08-11-19)

James realizes that life isn't always easy. He also knows we have a tendency to run or give up when things get hard. This can be especially true for the society we live in today. James encourages the church that patience in suffering is the only way forward for the follower of Jesus. (08-04-19)

the Bible mentions money and possessions over 800 times. Why? Because of how tempting it is to worship money over God and the realization that the more you have, the harder it can be to stay the course and follow after Jesus. These are serious, heavy words, but also encouraging and freeing. (07-28-19)

James draws a clear line when it comes to the danger of using out tongues to judge one another and tear each other down. As long as we speak evil about one another, the world will dismiss our Jesus as just another teacher who lacks the power to change us. (07-14-19)

In this section, James brings up how we fight and argue with one another but how it's really about far more than just that. When we fight, it shows an inward desire that's gone unchecked. A desire that finds it's roots in a friendship with the world, and not with God. The good news, Jesus offer rest for the weary...and the proud. (06-30-19)
