The passage emphasizes how the gospel changes how we think and feel. It consists of three interconnected points: unity in Christ, peace through prayer, and a praiseworthy life. Paul calls for unity in the church, reminding us of our unity in Christ, and the importance of maintaining it, as disunity disrupts gospel ministry and destroys our witness. He also emphasizes the importance of prayer, which leads to the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. And he encourages us to live a praiseworthy life, focusing on things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise.

Paul passionately pursued his calling in Christ and kept his focus on his eternal aim.

There is no sufficient righteousness or lasting satisfaction outside of knowing and being known by Christ.

We are called to live out our salvation in Jesus in every area of our lives.

With the gospel as our foundation, humility as our disposition, and Christ as our means and example, we are called to be united as a church. The gospel focuses our mission and our unity strengthens our endurance as we stand together.

We can joyfully participate in God's plan to advance the gospel despite obstacles and difficulties. The first step in being together for the gospel is treasuring the God of the gospel. Our confidence in his promises reminds us that no suffering or sinful motive can stop the advance of the gospel. We can also experience unstoppable joy because Christ is exalted, there is no threat in life or death, and God has a purpose.

Philippians is a book about unity and joy in the gospel. Like most of his letters, Paul opens with a prayer for the church. In his prayer, Paul lays out his hopes and desires for this church he loves.

Malachi is a succinct and fitting summary of the message of the Minor Prophets. We find in Malachi a few last words from the Minor prophets. And, just like the Minor Prophets, I think you’ll find its message surprisingly pertinent to our day and age. Despite the persistent failure of God's people, we see his unstoppable love and purifying presence.

The people of God are called to return to the Lord who controls all of history. If they would repent of their sins, they could enjoy the life that he provides. He is king over all history and is working out a good end for his people. He will accomplish his plan by sending a king to suffer and die for his people and, thereby, bring them peace.
