In this section, we will see some troubling words from Jesus as He claimed that He had come to set the world on fire. It’s not the warm and fuzzy portrait that we typically have of Him. As we walk through the difficult aspects of Luke 12:35-59, we will see that there is great hope and even great clarity.

The man Jesus describes would be thought of as wildly successful by our cultural standards. He achieved everything he set out to, in even greater excess than he anticipated. Yet, God calls him a fool.

This Sunday we will wade into the dangerous waters of exposing our deepest fears with the hope that the Spirit might show us the power of the love of God in the midst of them.

Some of us spend our whole lives looking for a sign of God’s existence or His will. We have a hunger and thirst for truth and for proof that can be unquenchable. Rightly tapped, that kind of passion can make all of life an adventure and a quest. There is danger, though, that we can be paralyzed into indecision and inaction, always waiting for just a little more. In Luke 11:29-32 Jesus continues to address the skeptics that surrounded Him. In this text He looks back at two stories from the Old Testament and shows Himself to be greater still.
