The Blazekeepers leave the creepy town of Madhollow and return to Bridgedale to find Maldar in order to inquire about the children they now have to look after. Maldar informs them of some members of a local thieves guild have been spotted near the new Bridgedale Museum, and he asks them to check it out.

After meeting up with the Blazekeeper Druid Soren Willowkeeper, and frog Frankie, Cristian, O'll Cobb and Blondy, make their way through the mystical forest in search of what is causing a mysterious billow of smoke. They come to an old wooden wall that appears to stretch around a small town in the middle of the woods. Christian and O'll Cobb climb up the wall and enter the town to investigate while the rest of their company wait outside. To their surprise, the town is unsettlingly empty until that is they hear a scream from inside one of the buildings and see a man thrown out into the street. Who is this man and what did he do? Long before the Blazekeepers, in the year 863, The Dark Angel Erezar has taken over many of the known continents around Galythia and spread darkness across the world.
