Contrary to popular belief.

In my book "Practical Spirituality" written in 2002, I wrote a chapter titled Less is More, which is entirely devoted to this concept.

I think it's every bit as applicable, in fact if not more so, today...

Leaders see things clearly.

Too many teachings, memes, and positive thinking propaganda advocate not seeing clearly.

In other words, acting as if something is great when it's not so great.

While I'm an advocate of taking the hand life deals you and playing it to your advantage, I'm NOT an advocate of suppression and denial...

True Leadership is not about lowering the bar; it's about raising the bar.

We live in a world that has by and large lowered the bar in so many ways.

We give our kids "participation trophies" versus "production trophies."

Oh, we don't want to harm their little psyche now do we?

Please...

Indecision is a monster that steals dreams.

Leaders care enough to do more than just get by.

Leaders just truly care.

Period.

Leaders are constantly raising the bar.

That is if they're a TRUE leader...

Leadership is the most difficult position you can take in both life and business.

To step into leadership fully you must win the inner war.

Both the triumphs and tragedies of being in the arena true leadership ossifies and crystalizes into practical applications for real life versus hypothetical life.

It might be natural to assume that since we're discussing leadership I consider myself an expert on the topic.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

My fallibilities are quite apparent to both me and maybe you as well.

I'm learning and growing and hopefully improving every single day.

I'm just fortunate enough to have been through enough difficult battles and leadership tight spots to learn what works in some areas and what doesn't work in others...

Knowledge is NOT power.
