Redirection with Terri-Karelle

It's the Season Finale of the 'Redirection with Terri-Karelle' Podcast and what a season it was! So who filled the 'Redirection seat' for the final episode?

The Wearer of many hats, Gladiator of gladiators, Internationally-acclaimed speaker, Beauty Queen, Public Speaking Coach, Author, mother, Killer of fear and so much more...The inimitable Krystal Tomlinson.

As much as we support each other, have similar communities, traits, styles and even interests, we had never been in the same room until recently.

We cover so many topics: womanhood, career, forgiving yourself, learning from mistakes, the importance of introspection and action. Loving yourself enough to want and do better... TO THRIVE It was a 5-course meal!

"BE NUFF!" We see this gentleman all the time, sharply dressed, self confident and helping to shape the minds of youngsters.

But Conroy B. Wilson has a bigger story... the story of how he got there. Can't wait to have him in the Redirection Seat.

From graduating with just three subjects to becoming the Executive Director of The Ashe Company, I laughed and giggled as he recalled experiences candidly. When you see people thriving, tenacity and drive are usually right there with and in them.

It's never too late to start! Imagine learning new things and exploring new possibilities at the ripe age of 70?!

That guest who is coming up in the Redirection seat and I do not know if I have a word to describe her fully. She has no problems with starting over from scratch.

She's going to learn how to play the piano, play the violin, the steel pan, write the books, become the coach and by the way she's in her 70s. I cannot wait to have the beautiful, the wonderful, the vivacious, the resplendent Patricia Reid-Waugh in the Redirection seat with me.

The intersection of mental health awareness, masculinity, manhood and the military.

Let’s talk about PTSD! (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) how it affects your mental state of being and how societal views of masculinity and manhood influence our men’s willingness to not get therapy! It also made me ask, how do we cope with loved ones suffering from PTSD?

We often see war movies glorifying heroism and death but what happens to the real people? The real veterans? I truly appreciate the conversation and transparency that Damian Dixon provided and I am even more moved that he is using his platform to encourage our boys and men to get the help, to communicate how they feel and to not be ashamed to cry.

For those of us who love entrepreneurial stories, this is one for you! In episode 15 of the 'Redirection with Terri-Karelle' podcast, Janelle Pantry-Coke, Founder and Managing Director of Spaces Jamaica sits in the Redirection seat.

From not having a clearly defined career path, to boldly starting a business without any industry knowledge to navigating discrimination, the pandemic and motherhood.

Her brand has become one of Kingston's leading retailers of quality furniture and accessories. This is a testament to the spirit of resilience.

Janelle didn't have all the answers at any given time. She simply started and then learnt along the way. Talk about trusting the process and trusting yourself. One of the sweetest people I know, hard worker and great employer! Can't wait for you to hear her story!

Meet Peter Mohan. I, like so many, do not particularly like going into banks but if there is one person who makes going into a bank so positively lovely, it's Peter!

When I first met him, didn't even know his role/ title. I just always saw him helping out on the floor, speaking to different customers, always patient and always so kind. His energy was always so warm and inviting.

I would learn that he was the branch manager and then I would find out that he started out as a BEARER of the bank!

No ego, just a spirit of service

The great Peter Mohan is in the Redirection seat today

So as usual you always ask me, if this week was so good or if last week was so good, who's coming in next week?

I’m really excited about the episode because this is a different format, different kind of guest, in fact, we will be speaking with Cristophe Phillips who will be the very first deaf graduate from the Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts.

It’s a big deal considering society is still a little bit closed off and still does not realize the power the deaf community has.

Toni Aiken will also be on set as sign language interpreter. So if you hear any moments of silence or any period of lull we’re just giving Toni the opportunity to sign and to give Cristophe the opportunity to respond.

She has an incredible story from flunking subjects to getting a diagnosis, to becoming an HR professional, to even going further to take the bar. How did she do all of this with so much going on?

We cannot wait to speak to the lovely Candice Walker on episode 11 of the 'Redirection with Terri-Karelle' podcast.

September 10 marks World Suicide Prevention Day and my guest in the 'Redirection Seat' one of the most amazing people I know Lashawndla Bailey-Miller. It's interesting how some of the hardest working, compassionate, giving, never complaining people are the ones who suffer in silence the most.
