In the fourth segment, Mr. Costello talked about the major sectors in Ireland and shared some advice for Hong Kong investors if they are interested in investing in Ireland. Moreover, we discussed the advantages of investing in the property market in Ireland. In the third segment, we discussed how Ireland recovered from different financial crises. Mr. Costello also explained the taxation system in Ireland, and how the taxation would create a great environment for Hong Kong entrepreneurs. Lastly, Mr. Costello shared his viewpoints on the potential impacts of “Brexit” on Ireland and explained the importance of the Good Friday Agreement.

In the second segment, we discussed the extraordinary development of Ireland in different aspects. However, Ireland did not become one of the leading countries in Europe overnight, she was one of the poorest countries in Europe in the past. Consequently,  Mr. Costello shared the keys to Ireland's success. Apart from the aforementioned, Mr. Costello revealed the public misconceptions about the origins of Whiskey, and explained the meaning behind the word “Uisce Beatha”. Lastly, Mr. Costello talked about the history of the Irish Whiskey and shared some tips for Whiskey enthusiasts when visiting Ireland.

In our first segment, we’re honoured to have Mr. David Costello, the consul general of Ireland to Hong Kong and Macau, talk about the historical connections between Ireland and Hong Kong and even unpuzzled the myth of the origins of the name of Kennedy Town. Mr. Costello also talked about how the legacy of the Irish people in different fields shaped Hong Kong into an international city that embraced different cultures, and how the DNA of the Irish is imprinted in the soul of Hong Kong people.

Segment 4

In the fourth segment, we will focus on governmental support for international startups and talents in Austria. Mr. Roessler explained that Austria has well-established systems for welcoming non-German speakers and the tax structure also benefits the startups to establish their business in Austria. Mr. Roessler also explained why Hong Kong startups should establish their business in Austria. Moreover, Mr. Roessler shared some tips for Hong Kong startups that attempt to land in Austria. Lastly, Mr. Roessler introduced different Austrian governmental programs and events such as the ViennaUP Festival that provide support and opportunities for international startups.

Segment 3

We will continue to discuss the industry that Austria is most proud of, and how she becomes one of the leading manufacturing countries in Europe. As most of us might not be familiar with the term “Hidden Champions”, Mr. Roessler provided multiple examples to help us understand how the Austrian companies become the “Hidden Champions” in the manufacturing sector. Moreover, Mr. Roessler also introduced the structure of Austrian companies, which is different from the typical company structure. Lastly, we also discussed the dominant position of Austria in the railway industry and the importance of railway logistics in the business world.

Segment 2

In the second segment, we discussed the impacts of the Covid-19 and the outbreak of Omicron that affected Austria as an export-oriented economy. Mr. Roessler talked about how Austria recovered from the pandemic through industry diversification. Moreover, Mr. Roessler explained how the Next Generation European Union Funds fostered Austria's recovery externally. Subsequently, he also talked about how the internal governmental policy, the Investment Premium, as a strategy to motivate investments, which results in economic growth in Austria. Lastly, Mr. Roessler also talked about the goal of Austria's green transition.
