With an August birthday, my son met the age cutoff for kindergarten when he was 5. But he wasn’t ready in many regards — and neither was I. They say “mama knows best,” and in this situation that couldn’t be more true. Yet, unlike a lot of other parents, I didn’t force my son to be a 6-year-old kindergartner because I wanted him to be the oldest, smartest, or biggest in his class.
