Welcome back to another season of Reed's Between the Lines! As we dive into the glorious summer term, Season 4 kicks off with a look at the amazing residential tours that ran over the holidays—each one offering unforgettable experiences and rare skills. While Mr Hoskins, Mr Ha, and Dr Smith were busy touring themselves, we’ve decided to bring in the real experts: Matty N (Third Form) on the Junior Ski Trip, Joe W (L6) on the SCUBA diving trip, Tom L (L6) on the Choir Tour, and Jasmine D (L6) on the languages trip to France. The original lineup—Mr Hoskins, Mr Ha, and Dr Smith—return for the Season 3 finale, wrapping up one of the busiest terms in recent memory (though, as we quickly realise, they all as bustling as each other!). This week, Dr Smith is firmly in his element—talking all things music with Mr Hoskins and Mr Ha as they relive the magic of last Friday’s gala concert at Fairfield Halls. Joining them are seven talented pupils, one from each year group at Reed's, spanning First Form to Upper Sixth: Freddy U (First Form), Alfie C (Second Form), Harry C (Third Form), Horatio T (Fourth Form), Freddie B (Fifth Form), Hannah B (L6), and Luke H (U6). Between them, they covered everything from cello and bass guitar to soprano vocals and even voice-over acting! In this exciting departmental special, we’re bringing together a dream team of Mathematics and Computer Science! Joining us are mathematicians Mr Wright and Mrs McIntyre, along with computer scientist Mr Herbert. Pupils Cauan C, Patrick L, and RbtL veteran Sam O share their adventures at the legendary Bletchley Park and the National Museum of Computing. Join us!

This week, Mr Hoskins, Mr Ha, and Dr Smith welcome a fantastic lineup of guests to discuss the annual Reed’s exchange to South Africa—fondly known as the Calabash Expedition. Joining us are the dedicated staff behind the trip’s organisation, Miss Charles and Mr Rumble, along with 2024 Calabash alumnae Sacha W. and M-K P. We also hear from prospective 2025 participants David G. and Alexia W. Tune in for insights and experiences as we build excitement for another unforgettable annual pilgrimage!

Reed’s is one of the top ski racing schools in the country, and this week, Mr Ha and Dr Smith go ‘between the slopes’ with the pupils and staff who make this elite sport happen. Joining the conversation are Mr Vernon (Head of Ski Racing), Mr Bottoms, along with Reed’s Ski Captain Luca J (L6) and Ben G (Fifth Form). Tune in as we attempt to unravel the world of ski racing—what drives its athletes, what keeps them going, and whether après-ski is really the best part!

This week, Mr Hoskins, Mr Ha, and Dr Smith get between the brushstrokes of Reed’s fabulously eclectic art department. We speak to Mr Farmer (Head of Art), Mr Cole (Head of Graphics, Photography & Printing), and two Reed’s art scholars, Chloe J and Oliver D V. This week, Mr Ha, and Dr Smith are joined by a brilliant line-up of Reed’s public intellectuals: Ms Lloyd, George M, and Max S-P. Together, we explore the ‘Ethics Cup’, a unique style of debating that prioritises collaboration over contradiction, in which the Reed’s team recently excelled. Max and George tackle some intellectually challenging concepts, showcasing their exceptional discussion skills.
