Today on Reel 33, we talk with Bill Allen about his book "My Rad Career", which offers a closer look into decades of his life in Hollywood before, during, and after Rad.
Learn about Bill's first paid role in the film industry, in which he starred alongside a young George Clooney and legendary stage actor Jose Ferrer.
Bill also opens up about the late, great Brandon Lee, his best friend whose young life was tragically cut short during filming of "The Crow" in 1994. Bill talks about the accident that claimed Brandon's life, and Michael Massee, the actor opposite Brandon, who lived the rest of his life unable to escape the emotional pain of his involvement. That alone is a remarkable story, but wait until you hear about Bill and Michael working together years later! The universe always finds a way to help us heal, and this story nails it.
Rad fans do not want to miss this very special episode!
In this episode, the fellas hang in the clubhouse with Jamie Clarke, otherwise known as Luke, Cru's wingman. Jamie is not only a world class mountain climber, he's also a brilliant storyteller. His experience and memories from filming Rad are so endearing, you'll think you were there with him.
Join us as we reminisce and laugh - and boy do we have some laughs in this one - and welcome Jamie to the Reel 33 family!
It was the most 80's film scene of all 80's film scenes. Synthesizers. Dancing. Sultry eyes that pierced your soul.
I'm talking, of course, about the school dance at Cochrane High, where the heavenly Kellie McQuiggin, known to Rad fans as Foxy, melted our hearts in tiger stripes.
Kellie is an absolute treasure, and we had so much fun learning about life in Calgary, Bowness Park, and her life before, during, and after Rad. We laughed and learned about her experiences with other cast members, and what it was like working with legendary Director Hal Needham.
This was a fun and entertaining conversation. We think you'll agree. Thanks, Kellie!
He made the mistake of telling Wesley her brother was NUTHIN next to Bart Taylor. Now that his shins have finally recovered, Mophead Boy was cool enough to hang with us for a few minutes!
In this episode, the fellas hang with Dan McDonogh, who played the role of Wesley's freckled, ginger-haired foe in Rad. Dan was kind enough to lend us some insights on his experience living in Cochrane, and being directly involved in the greatest BMX film ever made. Hear him discuss being in high school during filming, how it changed his life, and what he's been doing since!
Join us in walking this sucker, won't you?
