122 - Ghost in the Shell with Johnie Powers

We knew going into this movie the conversation would be a fun one. We were not wrong. On the surface, Ghost in the Shell is an action-packed movie about an elite squad taking down a terrorist. But below the surface (or inside the shell) it is a story about identity, and what it means to be alive. Joining us to discuss this anime masterpiece is Johnie Powers. She has a love for anime that demanded she come on the show, and we're glad she did. Ghost in the Shell will hopefully entertain you, but also leave you with a lot to think about.

121 - Richie Rich with Dave Pallas & Niall McGowan

This episode was supposed to be Ghost in the Shell until frequent interrupter, Dave Pallas hacked into the feed, and took over the show. He wouldn't let us leave 1994 without discussing the family film, Richie Rich (based on the Harvey Comics character who finds the real treasure in life). Dave took over hosting duties of this episode and brought along another friend of the show, Niall McGowan to keep the show running smoothly.

Part Johnie. Part Jonathan. Part Travis. Part Patrick. Together, It's Clobberin' Time! This is one of those movies where the story behind the movie is more interesting than the movie itself. Before you listen to the episode, we absolutely recommend that you not only watch Roger Corman's unreleased The Fantastic Four, but you also watch the documentary: Doomed! The Untold Story of Roger Corman's The Fantastic Four. Links to both films below. The movie has a reputation for being a terrible film, but the documentary may give you some perspective that will change how you feel about The Fantastic Four.

Joining us for this odd adventure are Johnie Powers of Austin Powers Minute fame, and Jonathan Howell who's mandate is to cover both Mission: Impossible and Fast and the Furious franchises various lengths at a time.

114 - Timecop

Finally, we get to talk about Jean Claude Van Damme! The man is up there with action movie names like Schwarzenegger, Stallone and Lundgren. The rules of time travel are as complex and unique as snowflakes. Every movie does time travel a bit different. Timecop, has its own set of time travel rules. Do they make sense? Who can say? All we know is, Van Damme's Max Walker sports a mullet that won't quit and an unquenchable thirst for vengeance.

The Mask

You know that kids movie with the condom joke, tailpipes shoved into… tailpipes and a very sexually aggressive hero. You know the one. 1994's The Mask is a real weird kids movie based on a comic book about a homicidal maniac. Jim Carrey was just hitting his hot streak in the 90s and everyone was annoying people or being annoyed by the quotable catchphrases in this movie. Adam Sheehan from TMNT Minute and Tales from the Short Box makes his first guest appearance and brings some much needed history with The Mask comics with him.

Check Adam out on TMNT Minute and Tales from the Short Box - both are part of the Dueling Genre podcast network.
