In our reading from Revelation 21, we hear God make a resolution that only he can keep. In verse 5, God says, “I am making everything new.” This refers to the new day. On that day, God will do away with death, mourning, crying, and pain. On that day, there will be a new heaven, new earth, New Jerusalem, and God will dwell with us in a new way. Talk about adventure and hope.

Reformation, the wait is both over and it continues. We no longer wait for salvation. Christ came. Christ defeated sin, death, and the devil. We are redeemed. Our life is hidden in Christ. Instead, we wait for the resurrection. We wait for the party. We wait for the one who turns water into wine. We wait for the one who kills the fatted calf for the prodigal son. It will be a glorious day when the Father says, “Now it is time!”

Do you have Christmas joy?

There is a day coming when we will experience it fully. On that day, all conflict will cease. There will be no more tears, pain, or death. God will make everything new.
