Brett McCracken is the Sr. Editor of The Gospel Coalition, a website many of us use weekly if not daily. His most recent book is entitled Uncomfortable and, in my opinion, it is the most important book written in the last decade. Anyone who thinks at all about Christianity realizes how terrible division and disunity within the church is. Denominations and associations help overcome the disunity - division, but they also, often, create more disunity - more division- This book by Brett does not really cry about this massive problem. Instead, it, on it's every page, proposes the solution - effectively persuades the reader to realize loyalty, involvement, and commitment to very very imperfect churches, is absolutely essential to the reader's well-being - and to the health of the church. But, that sort of commitment involves being regularly uncomfortable - regularly around people - involved with people who are very very different than you. Its just a fantastic book.
