ii.-Some are required to give up so much more because they have more to give at the outset, much like the rich young ruler. Others do not have as much at the outset to give up for the sake of Christ, like the Peter and his fishing nets. And yet all are required to give all that they are and have in this world-to count it all as loss for the sake of Christ.

Philemon is most definitely a letter that deals specifically with the issue of forgiveness and restoration. In this lesson we will take a look at the need of the repentant heart to have a God given spirit of forgiveness.

The Lord cleary teaches in this text that without a forgiving spirit, one cannot have confidence in their prayers before God and in fact are demonstrating an utter lack of faith in Him.

Having seen and condemened the fruitless religion of the Jews, Jesus graciously explains to the disciples the three link in the chain that is true religion.

Has God really said- Is God's word true- Is the gospel of Jesus Christ sufficient-

In this first command we immediately are able to come to the conclusion that it is God who is speaking, and that everything that is about to follow is to be heard with the understanding that God is revealing Himself, revealing who we are before Him, what we are to think and how we are to act before Him, and how deeply short we come in terms of His eternal glory and righteous standard.

a.-We have come across the subject of little children before in our study of this gospel account. And when the Lord speaks of -little children,- He is quite literally speaking of very small, very young, even infant children. He is speaking of those who cannot do for themselves, those who cannot care for themselves and are totally reliant on their mothers and fathers to care for them.
