We’re starting a new series today called Theology Matters. We’re going to be going through our own little Reforming Manhood version of a systematic theology. Buckle up folks because we’ve got a lot to go through in this episode as we talk about the Triune God of the universe. It’s important that we study who this God is, and that we don’t get Him wrong, because we need to know the God that we are to worship. We’re going to be worshiping this God for a very long time, so it’s important that we know who he is as he’s revealed himself to us in scripture today.

Truth is not a popular thing in our culture today. However, as Christians, we need to be devoted to truth because truth is a person. In today’s society, everybody has an opinion on what it means to be a man, and often times it means ignoring or denying what God says it means to be a man. Society is constantly attacking christian men, and is telling us that we do not have permission to be men the way God has called us to. We’re here today to tell you that you don’t need permission, and God actually demands it of you.

This week we’re talking about what it means to be a man in the city. Sometimes being a man in the city means doing something unpopular, and that means you’re probably going to be hated. Just being a cisgender christian white male in America is enough to get you burned in the streets, but now we’re calling you to not just be those things in word, be those things in deed too. Walk out your convictions and don’t back down. Be a man in the city even when it’s not fun.

A man must lead in this, and not let his wife take the lead. The church is vital to the life of the individual christian and to the family as a whole, so it is vital that you are there.

I know, it’s controversial to talk like that, but here us out before you start getting mad at the king title. God has called us to be kings in our home that lead, and, NO, we don’t mean that servant leadership/excuse to be a coward kind of lead either. We mean actually stepping up, leading your family like God commands, and being a good king in your home, and we don’t believe you should be a tyrannical dictator. This week the guys are sitting down to talk about how God’s word makes us alive and how it makes us pure. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edge sword. What does that look like in our lives. Well first it works by making us alive, or regeneration. Then it works in making us pure, sanctification. The word of God does both, and that’s exactly what the guys are talking about this week!

We have a word from the Lord for you! “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” See what I did there? I had a word from the Lord, it’s in quotes because it is the words of the living God, and it is found in 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Today we’re talking about the Bible is complete, and how it has everything we need pertaining to life and godliness. This means we don’t need special revelation from God. We just need to be obedient with what God has already told is the collection of the 66 books that we call the Holy Bible, the word of the living God.

This is our last weeks of warnings for men, but we are hoping that you can find some freedoms in this last one. This week we’re looking at Christian Liberty. “For freedom Christ has set us free…” This is a beautiful fact of our new life in Christ. We are free in Christ, and that means there is so much that we can do in this world and not be in sin, but that’s not where the verse ends. “stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” While we have so many freedoms, we should sin in our freedoms. This is exactly what the guys are talking about this week!
