It may be Fall Equinox for me and for all of my friends here in the Northern Hemisphere, but for our friends in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere, it's the Spring Equinox! So for them, brighter days are on the horizon. It makes us realize that sometimes, it's our time to shine (literally!), and sometimes, it isn't. Let's celebrate them as they have their opportunity to shine by revisiting this Jen is Zen episode. Can we celebrate others and know that it's just not our time right now, but still trust that we are on the right path? Manifesting is about speaking it out loud – and writing it down, of course – and then putting in the work, and in due time, we can watch our dreams come true. But sometimes it’s really hard to keep plugging along, right? What can you do today to work towards manifesting your dreams?

Today is the Autumnal Equinox for the Northern Hemisphere, so Happy Fall! In part 3 of this three-part series, we move from looking back into looking ahead. What do you need to shed in order to grow? What behaviors or narratives can you let go of to flourish? For me, right now, it's Imposter Syndrome, something that so many of us face in various aspects of our lives, so we'll have a conversation about it. What behaviors or patterns does your family need to shed to grow? Let's talk about problematic communication patterns that our families face, and how we can let them go.

The Autumnal Equinox is one of only two days throughout the year when the Earth is in perfect balance. The dividing line between day and night perfectly connects the north and south poles. Day and night are equal all over the planet. Balance. Something we all strive for in our lives, in our families, in our relationships. We are all trying to balance the multiple roles and the various role relationships in our lives, but sometimes our roles change or even become obsolete, and sometimes our roles conflict. Let's use this time of balance to look at the balance in our lives.

As we approach the Autumnal Equinox, we can use it as a time to reflect on our own summer abundance. We may not be tending to crops, but we have each been tending to and nurturing other aspects of our lives. Each of us is growing and changing, and each of us is doing so in our own way. This change of season is a good time for us to look at our family system to see how our interconnectedness has changed and how our communication needs to adapt.

"You have as many hours in a day as Beyonce."  Uhhh, ok... I'm pretty sure hours/day isn't the only difference. But what is preventing you from living the life of your dreams or being who you'd like to be? Often we are standing in our own ways with our habits. Because the way we behave today is a great predictor of how we'll behave tomorrow. And a year from now. And five years from now. Much of our lives are governed by our habits. As for our teens, much of their future lives will be governed by the habits that they create today. No, none of us will likely be Beyonce if we just develop healthier habits, but hopefully, we can get you and your teens all a bit closer to having that life or being that person you dream of.

Parenting a negative teenager can be a really challenging experience. In this episode, we have a conversation about negativity, understanding and helping to break the negativity cycle, and five strategies that can help when you’re parenting a negative teenager – especially through a lens of empathy, which should help to promote a more optimistic outlook and help them to escape the cycle of negative thinking We all know that adolescence in and of itself is a period of such change and just trying to figure everything out, and as parents, it's so important for us to understand why they’re feeling this way. What are the underlying reasons behind their negativity? That way, we can provide the support that they need to help them cultivate a positive mindset.
