Numbers are going in the right direction as infection numbers in both Henry and Stark County continue to decline. RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department joined WKEI to discuss vaccine hesitancy and encourage people who have yet to get the COVID-19 vaccination to do so. The more people who get vaccinated, the less places COVID-19 has to hide. Monday night, May 24th, the Health Department held their first evening clinic, a one shot, Johnson and Johnson vaccine clinic and Rae tells WKEI that it was very successful.

Ed Tunnicliff went from Kewanee High School to the the 1949 Rose Bowl as a member of the elite Northwestern University Football team. Ed Tunnicliff passed away on May 4th, 2021 at the age of 95. Relay for Life of The Sauk Valley by Regional Media

The Henry County Board met on Thursday night at the Courthouse in Cambridge. Board Chair Kippy Breeden along with County Administrator Erin Knackstedt and Economic Development Director Jim Kelly joined Wake Up TriCounties on Friday Morning to recap the meeting and talking about the latest Henry County news including property taxes, new business and available funding for local businesses still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City of Kewanee Citywide Clean Up is set to occur on June 12th, 2021, at the former Hospital site at Elliot Street in Kewanee. Items that will be accepted include Mattresses, Furniture, Yard Furniture, Water Heaters, Appliances, Metal Junk Items, Scrap Wood, Paint with Lids Removed and Paint Dryed with Cat Litter, Carpet, Toilets, other miscellaneous yard junk, and trash items. If you are concerned that an item you want to get rid of is acceptable, call ahead, before June 12th, to speak to Keith Edwards and make sure your item is acceptable or you will be turned away at the event. Vehicles must be able to be unloaded by hand and residents will need ID and a Utility Bill showing that you are a Kewanee resident. Call City Hall for any questions at 309-852-2611. Tires will be accepted on June 12th at Moore Tires in Kewanee.

The Dry starring Eric Bana opens in theaters and for on-demand rental, on Friday, May 21st, in the United States. Set in the arid outback of Australia, The Dry is a mystery about old secrets, new secrets, and murder. Eric Bana stars in The Dry as a Federal Agent, called back to his hometown of Kiewarra, for the funeral of his childhood friend. That friend, Luke, is believed by many to have murdered his wife and son before taking his own life. Bana's agent doesn't believe it and neither do Luke's parents, who invite the famed federal agent to do his own investigation. Along the way, Bana reunites with an old friend played by Genevieve O'Reilly and sparks develop even as both are dealing with the tragedy of Luke's death and the shared past drama involving the death of a childhood friend. The Dry was directed by Robert Connelly and on this edition of Sean at the Movies, I had the chance to talk with actress Genevieve O'Reilly and Director Robert Connelly about The Dry.
