Your contribution helps us continue sharing grounded conversations about the system of Reiki, women’s voices, and the deeper questions people are often afraid to ask.
We explore whether belief is required in the system of Reiki, why it was designed to be accessible regardless of religion, and why this practice is experiential rather than faith-based. I share why I often suggest a “suspension of disbelief”, like watching a movie instead of trying to force sensations or outcomes during a session.
We also talk about:
✨ What “Ki” really means is life force energy and the body’s natural intelligence
✨ Why first sessions can feel uncertain
✨ The importance of multiple treatments and building trust
✨ Why looking for sensations can pull you out of the experience
✨ Parallels with acupuncture and integrative medicine
✨ Symptom flare-ups and why healing isn’t always linear
✨ Client stories from a broken toe to a kidney stone to unexpected shifts like improved hearing
✨ Placebo, skepticism, and why healthy questioning is welcome
The system of Reiki is not about blind belief. It’s about presence, balance, and allowing the body’s natural intelligence to respond.
If this episode resonates, please:

✔ Comment with your questions or experiences
✔ Share with someone who has asked, “Do I have to believe in Reiki?”

We often hear the question: Am I giving my own energy during a Reiki session?
In this episode of the Reiki Women Podcast, we explore this common concern and share our understanding from both Western and Japanese perspectives of the system of Reiki. Many Western teachings distinguish between personal energy and universal Reiki energy, which can bring up worries about depletion, boundaries, picking up others’ energy, or the need for protection rituals. From the Japanese perspective, these distinctions don’t apply. Reiki is all energy, and a session is about being together in a shared space rather than “sending” or “channeling” energy from somewhere else.

We also discuss:
🌸Two meanings of universal energy and why they matter
🌸Japanese purification practices (Kenyoku Ho and Joshin Kokyu Ho) as focus, alignment, and balance
🌸How to create sessions that support clients without fear
🌸Nervous system and energetic hygiene in practice
🌸The fourth precept: “True to my way and my being.”
🌸Consent, comfort, and practitioner responsibility
Through this conversation, we invite you to explore the system of Reiki as a shared meditative space, grounded in presence, balance, and care for both practitioner and client.

Dear Reiki Women Podcast listeners,
Thank you so much for being a part of our community! Reiki Women Podcast exists because of YOU—your listening, your presence, and your willingness to explore the system of Reiki together.
It is because of this continued engagement that we are able to look into 2026 excited to strengthen and grow this work and community! And to do that, we need to strengthen the structures that help us produce this podcast and related offerings.
The Reiki Women Podcast has been a labor of love for our team, with thousands of unpaid hours dedicated to filming, editing, and sharing meaningful conversations with our listeners.
So we’re launching a crowdfunding campaign to support the continued growth of the podcast and the creation of future conversations dedicated to centering women's voices, sharing insights from the Japanese origins of Reiki and empowering Reiki practitioners around the globe!
Your support of this campaign will allow us to:
• Hire an editor for the podcast, to free up the many hours Bronwen dedicates each month to editing and publishing the pod;
• Cover the cost of our editing software and other production costs;
• And keep this offering accessible and sustainable by allowing us to dedicate additional time for us to create new offerings in 2026.
A central purpose for Reiki Women Podcast is to uplift women’s voices, perspectives and leadership within the Reiki community. As advocates for women, we need to be firm about the importance of women being compensated for our labor, freeing us up to reciprocate even more value back into this community.
If you feel called, we would be so grateful for your contribution—whether that’s donating, sharing the campaign, or simply holding us in your thoughts. Every form of support truly matters and helps this work continue.
Thank you for walking this path with us and for being part of a community that believes in healing, connection, and authentic embodiment of the system of Reiki.
With gratitude,
Bronwen, Carrie and Michaela,
Hosts of the Reiki Women Podcast.

This season, we're exploring the intersection of Reiki and our animal companions across every stage of their lives and in the environments they inhabit.
From the vulnerable creatures and shelters waiting for homes to the aging pets we love through their final days.
And from the wild beings we encounter in nature to the animals we care for professionally. We are acknowledging how our Reiki practice supports us to be open to animals as healers and teachers.
This series celebrates the profound bonds between humans and animals, and how Reiki practice can support both creatures in our care and those who dedicate themselves to animal welfare.
