REIMAGINING POLICING: Can Cops And Social Workers Make A Good Team? (Episode 22)

Listen Later

In this week's episode, we will take a look at how officers from the Moab Utah Police Department on August 12, 2021, handled an encounter with Gabby Petito and Brain Laundrie. Critics of the department's response to this encounter claim that they failed to adequately protect Petito from an alleged domestic assault in which Laundrie was the aggressor. As a result of their failed actions, critics argue that Laundrie killed Petito whose body was discovered on September 19, 2021, in Teton County, Wyoming. Also, Dale and Kassandra will discuss the pairing of police officers with social workers and how the two as a team may better serve people in crisis.

Inside the Line: Real Stories by Real Cops explores serious crime ‘n grime issues and stories with a dark sense of humor, from a street-level view. Interview, anecdote, and opinion mix with insults, small talk, and some things that are just weird. How are college kids hustled by the promise of sex? Why are psychopaths so charming? What’s it like to talk to a mentally ill person who’s just cut off his hand? Wisecracks, smart observations, and stories from the street make for an interesting hunk of weekly infotainment. Featuring retired Massachusetts police officer Dale Lawrence, journalist comedian Dave Rattigan and comedian-actor Nathan Arroyo.
