Most of us, when we hear of spousal abuse, automatically assume that the wife is a victim of her husband’s physical and emotional violence. Clinical social worker Dr. Ronit Dror joins Eve Harow to discuss her astonishing research findings that there is almost parity in high conflict divorce cases as to who is the abuser. Often a father is then denied access to his children based on their mother's false accusations. A concern is that it’s been established that children raised without a positive father figure- for whatever reason- have much lower rates of success in life, so this situation can have enormous ramifications. Laws that automatically favor the mother need another look. What if she has a mental illness or addiction that makes her unfit to parent? A sad reality but unfortunately one that isn’t getting the attention it deserves.
