Growing up in an African household is not easy(and all the African children said, Yessir)who can relate to the strict rules, housework, no sleepovers, curfews and just a general not understanding why your parents are like this.

But what's not easy is being a young mum with six children, coming to a foreign land, later becoming a single mum and just wanting to protect and give your children the best future.

Sitting down with this mother and daughter and discussing both these situations, opens your eyes to the struggles mothers faced and as children, we didn't always understand why they did the things they did, until we were older.

They have such a special bond, not only because Noreen used her survival skills to stay out of trouble, but because they laugh together, they communicate and they forgive and that is a basis of a wonderful relationship.

The best friendships are built on trust, love, honesty and memories, but there's something different about God centred relationships.
