Pirates and Fratellis and bats, oh my! Wheelers and Mombi and electroshock therapy, oh my! It's the 100th episode of Release Date Rewind, and what a way to celebrate with an adventurous summer 1985 double feature of The Goonies and Return to Oz. Mark welcomes '80s girl Solana Sorrento back on the pod to go on a bike ride (The Goonies walked so Stranger Things could run!) and try on a few pretty heads (Disney's Oz is intense!). Before we had TikTok, there was Tik-Tok! Also, find out how The Goonies is connected to Burlesque and where the abandoned Land of Oz amusement park is.

Plus, they share stories about making a spoof of this slashfest called House of SAKS 5th Avenue, where Kit naturally played Paris. • Just One of the Guys (40th anniversary)
Happy Pride, Rewinders! Here's an extra queer episode featuring '80s gender bending, sex jokes, and flashing! Mark welcomes fellow podcaster, writer, and movie lover Devin Lotfi back to the show to be his prom date and celebrate the 1985 cult classic Just One of the Guys for its 40th anniversary. Some of you don't know this movie and frankly, how dare you! They each watched it on cable as kids, laughing, gasping, and relating to the experience of hiding your true self and blending in. Before Amanda Bynes disguised herself as a boy in the great She's the Man, Joyce Hyser did it here two decades earlier and busted out that memorable reveal.

Listen to Devin's podcast I Don't Want To Hear That, about top tier TV series The Comeback, which just celebrated 20 years! We love you, Valerie! @idontwanttohearthat

  • Little Women (30th anniversary)
Here we come a-wassailing and here's a new episode to warm you up! Mark's sisters from other misters - Sarah Menaquale, Kit Sheehan, and Melissa Ward - are here to celebrate the classic Louisa May Alcott story Little Women and its great 1994 film adaption from Gillian Armstrong for its 30th anniversary. They mourn the death of Beth, praise the Thomas Newman score, and will never forgive Amy for burning Jo's manuscript. Plus, they compare the 1994 vs. 2019 Greta Gerwig versions and ask which Laurie do you prefer: Christian Bale or Timothée Chalamet? About Release Date Rewind

From the publisher's feed

Movie nerd, filmmaker, and anniversary celebrator Mark J. Parker brings a friend on each episode to discuss movies (and sometimes TV shows) that are hitting milestone anniversaries of release that month. Think 20th anniversary, 25th, 30th, 40th, 50th, you get it! They'll dive in together, discussing fun facts, memorable moments, and what makes these movies worth a rewind all these years later. Let's get nostalgic! The podcast logo was designed by Straw Hut Media, inspired by Greg Clements' original art. The theme song is the instrumental version of "Dance This Out" by singer/songwriter Kyle Motsinger and producer Smoke and Mirrors.
