How they began was the best part of their journey they proclaim. Marleney and her husband had been living in Fort Lee for about 4 years and always had to cross the bridge to Washington Heights to get what they call authentic Dominican food, in a predominate Asian community, there were absolutely NO LATIN restaurants in the area. It was one day her husband thought Fort Lee needs Dominican restaurant and that they were going to open one. Simply she wasn’t too fond of that idea, given they had 0 experience. However, they were lucky his aunt was a caterer in the Dominican Republic and agreed to help them get started. In July 2016 she her husband, and his aunt opened the restaurant. It has been a wild but exciting 6 years since then, but the steady income has helped them financially. So great they were able to start a family of 5. And as you can imagine that’s all hands on deck! Thankfully not only has the Latin community welcome them with open arms. The Asian community has lent their support as well. They have been very blessed and thankful to remain open through this Covid pandemic. **Nadiva’s Read** Featured Dishes: Mofongo de Chicharron – Fried pork pieces with mashed green plantains.Rabo rice and beans - Stewed oxtails with red beans and rice.Mangu con los 3 Golopes – Mashed green plantains with Dominican Sausage, Fried cheese, and Fried eggs. Diva’s Table Topic: Religion vs. Relationship with God Word of the Day / Definition: Humbug (noun) To be deceptive or false talk or behavior. Stats: https://biblereasons.com/religion-vs-relationship-with-god/ Many people like saying things like Christianity is not a religion it’s a relationship. This is true, but it’s not the entire truth. Christianity is a religion, but as believers we treat it as a relationship. The problem that I see in many Christian circles is that many people use the grace of God to indulge in sin. They say things like “relationship over religion” or “Jesus over religion,” but they forget things such as repentance and sanctification. I hate the aspect of religion that says you have to do something to be right with God. I hate when someone tries to put legalistic rules upon believers. However, evidence of your faith in Christ is that your life will change. Evidence of your faith in Christ is that you will have new desires for Christ and His Word. I heard someone say, “Jesus hates religion.” This is not true. Scripture: Matthew 7:21 (KJV) “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” #DWN #DiningwithNdiva
