Religious Freedom Archives - Stand Up For The Truth Podcast

[Original airdate: 3/28/22] TODAY’S GUEST is  Dan Fisher, co-pastor at Fairview Baptist Church, Edmond, OK. He served two terms in the OK Legislature and also ran for governor. Dan Fisher travels the country presenting “Bringing Back the Black Robed Regiment” – a multi-media production where he tells the amazing, true story of 18th century Patriot Pastors who led the men of their congregations and communities to fight for liberty in America’s War of Independence.

We discuss the importance of pastors re-engaging, ESG scores (Environmental, Social, Governance), federalism, Romans 13, Liberty Pastors (equipping and training godly men & church leaders), and of course, religious freedom.

Unlimited Submission? – book by Dan Fisher: How often have you heard a Christian pastor/bible teacher declare that Romans 13:1-5 requires Christians to submit to their governmental leaders – no matter what, and that they are sinning if they don’t? For years, spiritual leaders have been shackling believers with a flawed interpretation of Romans 13:1-5 – especially as to how it applies to citizens living in a republic like ours.

Mary welcomes back Todd Nettleton of Voice of the Martyrs for another uplifting podcast on our persecuted brethren around the world. Todd just returned from Central Asia and having interviewed pastors and many brethren who have left all to serve the Lord,  he brings their stories of seeing the hand of God in the Great Commission. We also talk about  various hotspots around the world. With 50% of the world’s population voting for their own national leadership, how does this affect persecution? Hotspots seem to change with geopolitical upheaval.  We look at Israel also, and the nature of the life of a believer in Gaza. How many believers live in Gaza, and how do they serve the Lord in that chaos? An edifying – and challenging –  hour with Todd.

In the first half of the program, Mary welcomes back Todd Nettleton, Chief of Media Relations and Message Integration for The Voice of the Martyrs—USA and host of The Voice of the Martyrs Radio. Todd serves as a voice for persecuted Christians, inspiring US Christians with the faithfulness of Christ’s followers in 70+ nations where they face persecution for wearing His name. We talk about the hotspots for persecution of our family in Christ and how we can best pray for and support them. In the 2nd half, Mary explains who today’s Jews are. What is an Ashkenazi Jew? A Sephardic Jew? We look at the unique DNA of the Cohenim and why it is important to understand who they and the Levites are. A fascinating time of dot-connecting and yes, we truly do live in Bible times! Living between the pages and the ages.

Mary Danielsen chats with Kyle Peart and Flynn Huseby of Once Lost Ministries, which exists to boldly proclaim truth, both to those who are lost and for the local church to defend, encourage and exhort via the use of apologetics.  Is the Seventh Day church solid? What is their history? Their view of Jesus? Evangelicals have long been confused by their doctrine; would they fail the test for a cult? What happened after cult expert Walter Martin tried to work with them to gain an evangelical footing? We will try and clarify what they believe and why it matters. They have a strong media presence and put on flashy prophecy conferences, but fail to identify themselves to those watching or attending. In the second half, we will discuss “in-house” apologetics – using solid doctrinal stances to help people navigate where their church is at – and unfortunately, often where it is going if the local church veers away from teaching doctrine to teaching the latest best-seller.

Mary Danielsen talks to Julaine Appling of Wisconsin Family Council about a variety of issues that affect us all socially and morally. School Choice is one of the hot-button issues we will talk about because it is controversial only in that public school advocates claim it takes resources from the schools when actually it benefits overcrowded public schools. We will also talk about National Marriage Week and how that institution is the bedrock of a stable society. Religious Freedom, abortion laws in Wisconsin, and a hate-filled rant by a Wisconsin Imam round out a varied hour of talk.

Todd Nettleton of Voice of the Martyrs returns with an update on the state of the persecuted church in particular hot spots around the world. Author of “When Faith is Forbidden: 40 Days on the Frontlines with Persecuted Christians“, Todd’s understanding of and compassion for those who suffer for Christ is boundless and his desire to help meet their needs is a blessing beyond compare for our brethren overseas. How will Americans respond to their own faith trials should the Lord tarry? There is so much strength to be had simply through hearing the stories of those who are already facing brutal hostility in nations not friendly to the gospel. While prayer is their #1 need year-round, churches are invited to take time to pray specifically on this year’s International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church on November 5.

A weekly podcast is also available for those who wish to keep up with the latest news and stories of transformation.

TODAY’S GUEST: author and U.S. Army Veteran, Fernando Arroyo. A former Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, Fernando helped create a Veterans Association at Biola University while earning a Masters of Divinity degree. He later worked at the Orange County Rescue Mission as the Veteran Services Case Manager, counseling and serving vets struggling with issues ranging from PTSD, drug addiction, and homelessness. Fernando works as the Veterans Outreach Director at Step Forward Academy helping veterans and their families. His brand new book is called: The Shadow of Death: From My Battles in Fallujah to the Battle for My Soul.

When I returned home from my latest deployment in the U.S. Army, my life began to fall apart. One night, after heavy drinking, I placed my 1911 pistol in my mouth and thought a prayer—silence. I deactivated the safety and began to slowly squeeze the trigger. BANG! I dropped the pistol and I looked around me, but there was no blood. The bang I heard was the Bible on my desk falling and hitting the floor. I fell to my knees and asked God for forgiveness. I surrendered to Jesus Christ and asked him to help me. He answered.
