Whoa…what?! Maybe I’ll come at this a different way. One of the things many “belief explorers” encounter as a challenge are the often exclusive claims made by belief systems. “Our way is the only right/true/efficacious way to God”, or to fit in on a bumper sticker, “Our God Wins!”. Of course, when you have more than one world view making such a claim, something has to give. So what happens when you take a belief system that doesn’t make any such claims, and sit it next to one that often does? Welcome to the wild and wooly world of considering the relationship between Buddhism and Christianity. This Sunday in the Talky Bit we’ll begin an exploration of that very big topic. By the way, if you’re looking to hear a Christian preacher tell you what’s wrong with Buddhism and right with Christianity, let me suggest you either pull the covers up over your head and get what my mom likes to call “some more beauty sleep”, decide to show up with your mind as open as possible to a different perspective, or maybe just go elsewhere. That won’t be the tone of this exploration.
Peace,
