WCW World War 3 1996 just took place and The Giant earned himself a WCW World Heavyweight Championship match in the future. The US Title is also now up for grabs as a tournament begins in WCW to crown a new US Champion, and the first tournament matches begin this week on WCW Monday Nitro. Elsewhere, Harlem Heat vs The Faces of Fear takes place, and Eric Bischoff announces to the WCW locker room that all competitors have 30 days to change their WCW contracts to nWo contracts.
On WWF Raw, a classic rivalry gets reignited when Bret Hart battles his little brother Owen. Shawn Michaels takes part in an interview where he addresses Survivor Series 1996 and the fans turning on him, and in the main event - Marc Mero battles Billy Gunn.
