This week, Rolando, Nicole, and Eddie take a deep dive into the lasting legacy of Tim Burton's distinctive filmography, focusing on Beetlejuice. We explore why Burton’s gothic, eccentric style has resonated so strongly with audiences—particularly millennials. What is it about his unique blend of whimsy and darkness that keeps his work so beloved, even decades later?

Next, we focus on Beetlejuice itself and uncover an interesting revelation: despite Michael Keaton's unforgettable portrayal, the title character doesn't appear until more than halfway through the film. Instead, the true narrative centers around the Maitlands, portrayed by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, and their attempt to navigate the afterlife. We also take a moment to appreciate the stellar performances of Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O’Hara as Delia, who bring a remarkable energy to the film.

Finally, we discuss the long-awaited sequel, which began production in 2023 after years in green lit limbo. Was this return to the world of Beetlejuice worth the wait? We also examine the absence of Jeffrey Jones and whether Tim Burton still has the box office power he once commanded. Join us as we explore the answers to these questions and more in this lively discussion.
