Host Charlie Malouf sits down to talk with Sam Thevanayagam, also known as Sam T. Sam, who owns two companies in the defense space, speaks about the vital role of purpose in his work. He emphasizes that his businesses, Parts Life and DeVal Lifecycle Support, are dedicated to supporting the U.S. warfighter by extending the life of critical defense equipment through remanufacturing and repair. This not only safeguards national security but also ensures fiscal responsibility by reducing the need for new acquisitions.
Sam's personal mission statement is to create environments where others can achieve their God-given potential, and he highlights how his faith and stewardship are integrated into his work culture.
The conversation also delves into Sam's journey from working in a Philadelphia manufacturing company to starting his own businesses in 2007. Facing initial challenges and setbacks, particularly during the Great Recession, Sam pivoted to the defense industry and landed small contracts that eventually led to larger, more critical projects. He shares a touching story of transforming a person's life (who was released from prison for a welding work program) by offering him a second chance through employment, symbolizing the broader impact of his company's mission.
