A veteran Ipswich nurse who helped save a police officer from a man who had been trying to grab her gun has been honoured with an Australian award for bravery by the Governor General.
Gabrielle Kelly was working her normal nursing shift at Ipswich Hospital, when she was forced to confront prisoner Tyson Jessen, who was ferociously punching a female police officer, while attempting to snatch her gun from its holster.
