We celebrate Halloween with our follow up to Clown in a Cornfield, Frendo Lives. In this sequel, we rejoin our heroes one year after the events of the first novel. We’ll give you three guesses about what happens this go around. With more clowns, more weapons and way, way less corn, this novel really is the perfect accompaniment to your Halloween treats.

This episode we cover the inspiration for one of the most popular video games of all time. Set in the post apocalypse, A Canticle for Leibowitz delves into themes of religion, war,mankind’s search for violence and a bunch of other deep issues that we are definitely not qualified to understand. As four idiots try to understand one of the core science fiction stories of the last century, we’ll do our best to keep you entertained.

The conclusion to our expedition into the Grishaverse. A group of criminal children continue their bullying of a kindly industrialist. After their job in the Ice Palace, these criminals will have to leverage all their strangely overdeveloped skills to pull off an even greater score. The score here of course referring to the massive amount of drugs that are involved. And believe me, you’ll need them to follow this plot.

We examine the book that inspired the greatest horror show of all time, V Wars. This is an inspired take at the ancient legend combining science with myth in an anthology covering an outbreak of a vampire virus. The most interesting part is how none of these vampires seem to need to drink blood or hide from the sun, but the real fun starts once we get into how these vampire’s types are determined.

Part one of two as we take a look at the GrishaVerse by Leigh Bardugo. Six plucky, teenage thieves are forced to work together to steal some magical cocaine and over the course of their journey learn the real magic was the friends they made along the way. Also the ability to telekinetically pull someone’s heart out of their chest. Mostly the friend stuffthough.

It’s a wonderful day in the neighborhood as we discuss our wormpocalypse survival strategies. Covering all the leftover gore we couldn’t get to in our discussion of ‘The Troop, we also look at the finer points of related works. All this on my podcast….my Arakis……my….Space Canada.

We return to Canada with this tale of boyhood adventure, The Troop by Nick Cutter. Stranded on an island when horrific developments begin, five boys and their scoutmaster must deal with an increasingly difficult situation brough to them by a stranger. Near the end we discuss the finer points of raccoon cuisine.

We have our school board meeting for the magic academy. I can’t remember how it’s spelled in this one. Examining the romance of Fourth Wing more deeply, here we expand on our nuanced and intricate views of love. Mostly how much we love dark magic but it’s a start.

We dive in late to the craze with Fourth Wing. Combining our two great loves of the fantasy genre and murder-school, we get to experience Violet’s journey through the War College. Will she find a dragon to bond? Will she survive her missions, let alone the other students? Honestly, based on her description probably not but hey I’m sure it’ll be a fun ride in the meantime.
