In the summer of 1973, John Lennon's marriage with Yoko Ono was in trouble. They were reeling from the commercial and critical disappointment of Lennon's Ono-produced Some Time in New York City, and Ono had said that the constant hate their union drew was slowly ruining their careers and her vibes. Ono wanted a break from the whole "she broke up the Beatles" narrative, and she needed one from Lennon, too. Her solution? She set Lennon up with a mistress. This period in Lennon's has become known as "The Lost Weekend."

Around 7:30 a.m. on the 29th November 1981 the body of Hollywood star Natalie Wood was discovered floating face down in the Pacific Ocean near Catalina. She was wearing a flannel nightgown, blue wool socks, and a red down jacket. The rubber dinghy from her yacht Splendour was found washed up on the rocks a little further south. There are few Hollywood mysteries more enduring or more heartbreaking than the one surrounding Natalie Wood's tragic death. The actress known for starring roles in films like West Side Story, Rebel Without a Cause, and Splendor in the Grass drowned when she was just 43 years old; but the circumstances surrounding the fatality are barely any clearer today than they were when the news first broke. What happened to her? Many years later, the question still stands.

Martin Luther King Jr. became the predominant leader in the civil rights movement to end racial segregation and discrimination in America during the 1950s and 1960s, and was a leading spokesperson for nonviolent methods of achieving social change.

His eloquence as a speaker and his personal charisma combined with a deeply rooted determination to establish equality among all races despite personal risk won him a worldwide following.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and was selected by Time magazine as its Man of the Year. His "I Have a Dream" speech, which is now considered to be among the great speeches of American history, is frequently quoted. His success in galvanizing the drive for civil rights, however, made him the target of conservative segregationists who believed firmly in the superiority of the white race and feared social change.

He was arrested over 20 times and had his home was bombed. Ultimately, he was assassinated on April 4, 1968, on the balcony of a motel where he was staying in Memphis.

Hotel California, The Eagles fifth album recorded in 1976. The song Hotel California was released as a single on February 22, 1977. The album would go onto sell 16 million copies in the US and double that figure worldwide. While they had been successful before - a greatest hits album collection released earlier the same year had become their first number one - Hotel California would find the band at "the peak of their powers.
