We begin this episode by remembering Garrick's Uncle Les, who passed away recently, with a couple funny stories from over the years.
Garrick provides some updates on his ongoing saga of radio issues.
The primary topic of this episode is sharing how we plan for our longform overland trips. Melody is hosting a trip to North Vancouver Island and Garrick is hosting a trip to the Owyhee Canyonlands. We dig deep into many aspects of our research, planning, collaboration and communication.
We bring back gear focus this week by discussing our various footwear loadouts for overlanding.
As always, we have a fresh set of random recommendations to finish out the episode!

We're "sorry to say" it's just us this episode, lol. We have been surviving the PNW wet season, even with other drivers running their cars in stealth mode. Our winter hibernation has been filled with projects and planning our big trips for the summer.
We have some updates to share from previous episodes, then we jump into discussing National Forest trail closures due to the staffing cuts at the Federal level.
As always, we send you off with some of our random recommendations!

This episode we are joined by new parents Chelsea and Jesse as well as their baby, Lucas! We jumpstart this episode with a new segment, Turbo Trivia! Can you beat our scores?
We learn how the couple found overlanding, define the distinction between overlanding and off-road wheeling, discover how the Houston Overland group evolved from local meetups to a tightknit community, and how they grew Washington Overland to include over 10,000 adventure-seeking members.
The episode features memorable tales from the Twisted Sisters, a challenging ride on the Alpine Loop in Colorado, and the unique experience of transitioning from Texas's limited public lands to the vast opportunities in the Pacific Northwest. Whether it's navigating snowy conditions on Umtanum Ridge or learning to adapt overlanding adventures for a growing family, these stories showcase the true spirit of outdoor exploration.
We close out with some more or less random recommendations!

This week we share what we have been up to including the challenges of snow wheeling, debeading tires, inaccessible public land, and riding in the winter.
For our news topic, we gush over an overlanding themed game that will be releasing later in the year, but wish we could see more.
At last, we finally formally introduce our dogs, Boba and Ryder, and detail our experiences overlanding with them. The pups get a say in the segment as well!

Our first podcast in 2025! Do you know the lyrics to Auld Lang Syne? This is commonly known as the "New Years Eve" song in America. If not, then check out our links to learn more.
In this episode, Garrick and Melody meet up to discuss their preparations for their respective holiday road trips and share some tips along the way.
In the main segment we cover Edmund's list of the best (new) trucks & SUV's for overlanding. We provide an overview of each vehicle listed and give our personal reactions to each. There are a lot of good rigs on the list, but something appears to be missing...
We finish out the episode with our second edition of random recommendations, and they truly are random.
Thank you, crew, for supporting us in 2024. We hope you had a lovely holiday season and look forward to sharing more adventures with you in 2025!

This week we are joined by our friend, Scott! Scott drives a 4Runner TRD Pro and shares with us how he discovered overlanding.
We have gone on some epic overland trips with Scott in the past, so we jump into discussing some of the highlights of our trip to Idaho last year. Scott sometimes overlands with a teardrop trailer that can be a blessing and a curse depending on the trail conditions.
Scott and Garrick recount their recent weekend trip to Douglas Creek in central Washington.
In the gear focus segment, Scott forecasts that tariffs could have a dramatic effect on gear pricing in the near future. The crew is divided on whether rooftop tents are worth it.
The main focus of this episode is Scott's experience with his Search and Rescue team. Scott shares the joys and motivations of supporting his team, reveals the stark realities of recovery missions and how they affect him personally, the ins and outs of a typical mission, and encourages others to join the ranks if you feel the calling.
We close out the episode with a new segment, Random Recommendations. In this segment we share something that we think is worth checking out that may or may not be overlanding related.

The Moab episode!
In this episode Garrick starts off with describing his road trip down to Moab, Utah from Seattle. Melody is preparing her rig for winter. Both Melody and Garrick made cable improvements to their portable power stations and Garrick did the same for his 12V fridge. Melody also received the fix for her Warn winch controller, but it's complicated!
Garrick then jumps in to detail his week long trip riding motorcyles and a little 4x4 action while in Moab. Highlights include Slick Rock, Fins & Things, the Utah BDR, Canyonlands & Arches National Parks, Chicken Corners, Hells Revenge, and tons of crashes in between. We close out the episode covering what worked and what didn't on the trip.

We our joined this week by our friend Beth who drives a 2021 SR5 4Runner that's taken on a scratch or two since she first bought it. We discuss some of the mods that Beth has added to her rig and how she chose them.
Garrick enjoyed his first bikepacking trip. It involved a couple ferry rides from Seattle to the Kitsap Peninsula, questionable sushi choices, and a run in with the law.
Beth is leading a weekend trip to the Douglas Creek recreation area and shares some of her pre-trip planning tips and how she focuses on safety.
We discuss how we deal with rain while camping in the wet PNW through our gear selection.
Our news topic is about how to navigate community dynamics when it comes to trail stewardship.
Our main topic is about where we find ourselves on the spectrum of appreciating the journey or the destination more while overlanding. We close out the show by discussing what happens when a plan falls apart and you have to improvise.
