No matter the opposition or affliction whether past, present or future, we can look to Jesus who is righteous. He will preserve us, be present with us, and lead us by His grace and strength to persevere and to prevail. 

Psalm 128 teaches us that there is a direct relationship between your attitudes and actions and God’s blessing in your life. That God’s blessing is available to everyone. But you can choose to either welcome God’s blessing into your life or you can chase it away.

Psalm 126 talks to us about Joy. Happiness depends on “happenings” or external circumstances, but Joy is more permanent. So, what is Joy? Joy is more than a feeling. It is the fruit of the Spirit and is the confident assurance of God’s goodness now and into the future, no matter the circumstances! 

Psalm 125 provides God’s people with security in their faith. The Psalmist teaches us that those who trust God know His stability, security, goodness, and holiness. Even if you make a misstep along the way. Even when you miss the mark of righteousness, and you sin. When you trust in Jesus, your salvation is secure.

Psalm 124 is a wonderful song about how the Lord helps his people. How do we embrace the Lord’s help?

For some of you that may be an important question to ask right now. You know that you need the Lord’s help. Others of you, however, may need to listen and remember because there will be a time that you’ll need this text. Or there may be someone in your life that you’re going to encourage because you’ve listened carefully.

Psalm 123 speaks to us about service, about servanthood. And as is so often the case with the Psalms, we are not instructed what to do, we are provided rather with a picture of what is done. In a psalm we have the observable evidence of what happens when a person of faith goes about the business of believing and loving and following God.

All of us live our lives as worshipers. That’s just the direction of our hearts. As human beings our devotion will always go towards something. It’s something that we do. It’s what we were designed for. It’s what we were made for.

God doesn’t promise to prevent you from walking into harm, He promises to preserve you when you encounter harm.

The life of a Christian is built on long obedience in the same direction. Repentance is a realisation that what God wants from you and what you want from God are not going to be achieved by doing the same old things or thinking the same old thoughts. To faithfully walk the path of discipleship, there must be dissatisfaction with the world and a longing for peace and truth.

God wants us to pray during seasons of spiritual attack. It magnifies him as the one who comes to our aid. It honours him as the only one powerful enough to pull it off. It shines a light on his mercy and all-sufficiency to do for us what only he can do.
